I have checked both door seals, same as new.
there are no other appliances or air conditioning affecting room temperature.
The temperature controls are an lcd display and push buttons mounted externally on the freezer door water/ice dispencer unit, they are factory set at 5c and -18c and have not been adjusted.
There is no build up of frost/ice internally.
I can hear the comressor running and if i open the freezer door and press the door switch the internal light goes out and the freezer fan runs.
Freezer is defrosting approx every 8-12hrs now and display shows '--'flashing.
    Any ideas?

The fridge freezer is only just over 12months old and like new.
I'm already regretting my service strategy and i must admit i was supprised at how much dust had collected on the condenser/evaporator.
How do i check if i have a clogged cooling system?

Sounds to me like you may have a clogged line for your cooling system. You have a good service strategy in your neck of da woods, mon?

you don't..takes a special set of equipment, usually used to support a recharge of the coolant..checks for blockages, leaks, etc.

If the door gasket is weared, that can be the cause for this problem, check if it is in need of replacement.

Here is also a list of general troubleshooting on freezer not cooling.
Check first the gasket, and also check that you do not have another appliance (eg an air conditioner) pumping hot air on the fridge.
    Check also thermostat settings.

2. blower fan failed, if it has one

Mate prehaps the defrost element could be burntout thus no auto defrost and the big freeze and the alarm, when you switch off the defrost starts and the alarm resets?

Warm Fridge side

Defrost the fridge freezer overnight. Restart unit. If it starts working you have either had a door ajar or a defrost problem. If it fails to cool down at all then you may still have a defrost problem or a evap fan motor faulty. Most likely outcome is that the unit will work once defrosted for approx three weeks after which the freezer will freeze back up. Most likely cause will be the defrost heaters. Any good tech should be able to help on second failure. Hope this helps.
