To me it sounds like a problem with the transport. If your not sure if it's in record mode, put in a dvd blank and see what happens. Little glitches like this can happen when the laser can't focus, therefore it tels the unit there there is no cd (even if there is one). If it does this with all dvds, I would suggest a repair or replace at your nearest service center or dealer.

The set is not accepting the data on initial scan and is rejecting.
Can be that the DVD process boarrd is faulty, Th optical head is faulty, the drive mechanism is faulty in not loading fully.
Try to load original types, if this works then a region settting must be done on some models to allow playing all types of modes
Need to check this out.

Can record on DVD disc will not play on DVD player

Make sure the materials you're trying to record onto the DVD
is not Copyrighted. Try to record a normal TV program onto your
VHS, transfer it to your DVD and then play it. See if that will
work. A VHS movie is usually Copyrighted and Protected by
Macrovision. The picture output can be displayed on a TV set
for viewing but is scrambled black to a DVD Recorder.

I can watch rented or purchased movies on dvd but when i try to load a blank verbatim dvd-r to record a show on tv the player says load for about 4 minutes before it spits out the disc and says it cannot...

When the discs are recorded are they being "finalised" before you use them?

Finalising means that no more data can be added to the disc but also ensures that it should play on most DVD players. Unfinalised discs are often only playable on either the DVD recorder which created them or on computer DVD drives.

Your machine is supposed to be compatible with DVD-R but sometimes machines are picky about which brand of disc they work best with. You'll also generally find that DVD+R is more widely compatible than DVD-R but that really shouldn't be an issue on a modern machine like yours.

If this answers your problem then please rate my answer, if not then please add a comment and I'll try my best to offer other suggestions.

Dmr-ES30V Dvd plays pre record movies fine but I

Try a different brand of blank dvd+r or -r. you will find that your dvd machine is fussy on what discs it plays. More exspensive dvd players are fussy with what dvd discs you put in, as cheaper dvd players would virtualy play most types of dvds.

Recorded DVD will not play in another player

Hey,
Maybe the format of your recorded movie didnt support your player..check out your manual for the supported formats and check the format of your recorded movie. If any of the format in the manual matches your movie format then it will definitely play..
please rate my suggestion..

Finalize a Disc on Mangavox MWR10D6

No. Generally finalising just writes the unused spaces as unused so the player knows and adds a stop code. The shorter the DVD the longer the finalise. An hour and a half on two hours is plenty of space.

Goodmans home dvd recorder

Make sure the DVD has been finalised. When you finalise a DVD the recorder puts all the disc content information at the start of the disc so that any device you put it into can find out what is on the disc without scanning through 4.7 Gigs of data, (which would take so long it would drive people mad everytime they put a disc into anything). Because the table has not been written the PC cannot see what is on the Disc.
Another possible answer: some makes, Orion for one have a Virtual Record mode that it was not possible to play in any other device.
And Orion do make products for Goodmans.
Most likely the first answer though.
