If your hard disk is only 1 partition right now, reformatting the hard disk, then deleting the current partition and creating additional partitions is the way to do it. This means, you also have to reinstall Windows. if you do not want to reinstall Windows, look for programs like partition magic or the like that can allow you to create additional partitions, though, there are cases this may have issues later.
