Question about Car Amplifiers

1 Answer

On then off

I have a Performance Teknique ICBM-782 Amp it say its 1000watts. I have it connected to two 10" inifinty Subs. The box is in my trunk and the amp is screwed onto the back of the box. My head unit is a Kenwood KDC-138. My problem is that it hits hard for a couple of songs then it stops and the red light comes on, on the amp. Then switches back to green after a minute or so then back to hitting hard, then, all over again! Is this a overheating problem, that can be solved with a fan or do I have too much amp for the subs or do adjustment need to be made to the amp (fequencies on the side of the amp) and if none of those, what else may it be.

The diagnotics light is on and it will not power the subs. What do I do? Is it blown?

Disconnect tha speakers to the amp and power off amp see if light returns to normal operation. If so could have a shorted voice coil or a speaker wire that is being grounded to the chassis of the vechicle.

No knowledge of how to hook two subs which are the 12 alumni audiobahn sub to a performance technique 781 mono block amp operation ohms for the speakers say 3 or 12 ohms during operation can i bridge or do...

yor subs have dual 6 ohm voice coils from the sound of it-your amp is rated at 650 watts rms at a 1ohm load. The best you can do with the equipment you have is to wire ALL the coils of your subs in parallel and that will give you a 1.5 ohm load for the amp.It should knock the hell outta them with 300 watts on each sub - good luck

I want to bridge my icbm 781 amp i dont know how to bridge them

it is already "bridged" it's a monoblock amp, 1 channel, if you're trying to get more power, lower your ohm rating..here's a guide to wiring subs for different ohms: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vXEiF19AwhE/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html

I got a performance teknique power amp its 1700 rms at 1 ohm i need 1500 rms at a load of .67 will be ok

No, with 1700watts at 1 ohm the max current is 41 amperes, with 1500 at 0.67 the currents is almost 48 ampreres, you will be overdriving the amp at signal peaks.

Performance Teknique ICBM-774

It is almost obvious to me that the New Box is Unvented. If you went from Vented to non-Vented. there you go. The Amps and Subs should be doing the same thing. If your Sony 10's are designed for Vented they will not thump right in a NON-vented box.
