Just wanted to make sure that you understood me correctly, I received 300 DVD portables, and only 200 had this problem. I am wondering if you believe it is the inside regulator that is damaged, or if it is the outside power supply that may be the problem.

Do you think that i need to change the regulator completely, or is their another way i can make them function.

    Hoping for your response ASAP.

    Thank you, Mayer

Hi,

Did I get you right, 200 pcs of brand new Protron PDV700 DVD Portable Player?

In any case, chances are the problem is the switching 5V regulator which supplies the logic circuitry or any part of the circuitry of the power supply.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

Copy that 200 out of 300 are non-functional.

Since they are of the same brand/model, pls select one of the working ones. After verifying that indeed it is working, set the player aside. For purposes of discussion let us call that working unit #1. Use the external power supply of #1 to test the questionable 200. If any of the 200 would work using #1's external PSU, then it is the player's external PSU at fault, if not then it is the player.

If any unit (of the 200) has been determined to be at fault, then it would have to be opened up and diagnosis made. It is of course required that one need to be comfortable and familiar working with electronic circuitry and components, use of a VD and a low wattage soldering iron (or preferably a Combo hot air station and soldering iron for surface mounted components). Availability of a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings is also essential. In the absence of the service manual/schematic diagram, it is possible to use one of the good player as a template when doing actual voltage readings.

Should you be uncomfortable going through the above method, perhaps your best would be to seek the professional services of a qualified technician.

    Cheers.

nahh you cant over chargee silly;; when its done, its done, it just doesnt loose battery power. and im not positive about the light.. but i would most likely assume that when the green light is on, that means its charging.. thats how pretty much every electronic works.. light on-charging; light off-no charge. sometimes it varies by different color lights.

thanks ! hope i was helpful.

The middle piece in a protron portable dvd is missing

If you talking about the clamper (the peice on top of the door) Yes its a common replacement part used on many brands and
should be inexpensive to replace. You can call 909-354-4120 and order one.

POWER PROBLEM

This is a common problem, makes sure the switch in front of the DVD door and off to the right is not stuck down, it tells the Screen you have opened the clamshell and must be up when opened.
