Not sure where that document is on this site, but we were able to come across some instruction sheets on the Drayton Controls website:: http://www.draytoncontrols.co.uk/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=10467

It's not a ton of information on the product, but does offer some technical help.

Hope this helps,

my very first check would be the thermostat on the hot water cylinder, you may find you have a water leak on the cylinder which is dripping onto the thermostat. (quite common) another check and this is very dependant upon your skills is to check the wiring to the timer.

Off peak hot water not heating!!! :(

The Economy 7 can control different types heater. Some heaters do not have off-peak ... but you can solve problem..
Copy following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/QE7-INSTRUCTION.pdf
If timer is wired to two different elements, then the night rate element or off-peak element might be burned out. Test element with multimeter.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-test-water-heater-element.html
Also this timer is wired so either Off-peak is getting power or Boost is getting power, but not both at same time.
If heater has off-peak element, then there will be a wire connected to terminal 5, going to heating unit.
If there is no wire on terminal 5, then there is no off-peak element, or wiring has not been connected. However you can change the timer function by moving wire on terminal 4 to terminal 5. Then only the off-peak timer function will operate, and not the boost.
You can also fool the timer, by setting time clock differently. Instead of setting timer for current time, rotate the dial and fudge current time by 10-12 hours so water heater thinks it's time for boost, but the actual time is during off-peak hours.
If terminals 4 and 5 both have wires, then either the element is burned out, or the timer has malfunctioned. Again, you can fool the timer by setting current time differently, and solve problem.

My Drayton seven 7 day central heating control ( fitted in 1990) is not responding properly. The clock is working, but none of the buttons are responding. I have changed the battery. I no longer have the...

Hi, thermostats fail and need to be replaced from time to time. If you get no response when you try and program this stat, and you have a display, the stat is faulty. These buttons are contacts on a circuit board that wear out and this is what has happened to yours. Its 21 years old, and I would say you have had real good luck for it to last that long. Replace it and you will be back in business.

I answer questions for free.
I know timers and electrical devices, and have tested most of the brands.
You posted under the Woods 7-day timer 59018 or 59028.
Here is the manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59018-59028.pdf

There are several programmable timers today that look like Woods, and each brand has different programming.

If you do not have Woods, add a comment and I will walk through programming your brand

1) You have the clock set correctly which implies the wiring is correct. Good job!
2) Programming review:
Each program requires ON time to be set, and then OFF time to be set
For example you set Program1 ON 5:00PM for ALL days.
And then you set Program1 OFF 11PM for ALL days.

3) Programming steps:
Press PROG button until Timer 1 ON appears on display
Use Hour button to set 5 PM
Use MIN button to set :00
Default selects ALL days
(If you want other days, press DAY button until display shows correct block of days)
Press PROG button again to save Program1 ON

4) Now for Program1 OFF

5) To set Program1 Off
Press PROG button until Timer 1 OFF shows in display.
Use Hour button to set 11 PM
Use MIN button to set :00
Default selects ALL days
(If you want other days, press DAY button until display shows correct block of days)
Press PROG button again to save Program1 OFF

6) Program 1ON and Program1 OFF have been set ... so press the CLOCK button to return to current time.
If you want to set another program, press PROG button until Timer 2 ON displays

7) After setting programs, press Clock button so current time shows.

8) The manual shows one more thing ... if you program the timer during the hours 5-11pm, and the timer should be ON during those hours, you have to 'tell' the timer to turn ON by pressing the manual override ... after that the timer will operate normally.

If you need more assistance, add a comment.

I have programmed the GE HEAVY DUTY TIMER MODEL 15117 timer to come on at 7 pm and it does not turn on the outdoor lights. the dots between the hour and minute are flashing. What am I doing wrong. It is...

There are 6 programming buttons on face of 15117 timer.
Download pdf manual

Review of steps:
The AA battery is installed with correct polarity
Timer blinked 12:00
Set clock while holding down clock button

Press PROG to display EVENT1-on (there is a tiny 'on' that shows on display)
>day button selects day, weekday, weekend
>> hour minute buttons to set ON time for EVENT1

>Press PROG so display shows EVENT1-off (ther is a tiny off that shows on display)
>repeat steps above to set OFF time for EVENT1

>Press PROG until EVENT1-on shows in display
>repeat steps to set on-off times for EVENT2

> when finished programming, press CLOCK

> Last step, set mode
MODE is on-off override
MODE is also Automatic or Random

Solution ideas:
Press MODE until Automatic displays)
-Press MODE key to see if manual override works
-Look at digital face (or take photo of it) and compare with Figs shown in manual to see if there is a match

-Check breaker. Check light bulb. Remove timer and see if load works without it. Check that light switch is turned on if plug is controlled by light switch.

-Review programs: Push PROG key to review programs
-Other timers ignore conflicting schedules ... for example EVENT1 says ON at 7 and OFF at 8, but EVENT2 says opposite, or overlaps, then timer ignores programming

-Reset timer and repeat programming: Press CLOCK, MODE PROG to reset timer
-Make a chart of your EVENT1 on-off times, and EVENT2 on-off times, EVENT3-7 on-off times before programming to make sure there are no conflicts.

Want a owners manual for Drayton Tempus Three Water heater

The Tempus three actually the controller not the heater itself. It varies from when the unit was made but I see the web littered with people trying to get this info. I trawled the net for a while to try and get a link for you but my best suggestion it to either email Drayton or you can find vartious instructions for the tempus 7, 2 and 1 that might help you figure out how to use yours. I'll keep looking and see if I can get a pdf. put on.

Drayton tempus seven

I have jjust found a manual for this system. The unit has a plastic cover on, which is not that obvious first. After opening the cover there are some buttons ( i.e. Clock). First press clock and re-set correct time. Then just press the relevant button ( i.e 1st on to set the time for having the heating on first thing etc. For each day, afert pressing Day button, the same can be set.

I think the key is to realise that there is a front cover, which hides the buttons. Hope this helped.

Need a manual for drayton tempus 3 heating control

I've ended up with a Drayton Tempus 3 when I bought my house, and I think this is how it works. It allows you to set 2 Timers (I'll call them timer 1 and timer 2) so that you can control Hot Water or Heating On/Off times twice a day. The unit has 6 buttons - 2 for Adjustment, 2 for Hot Water and 2 for Heating. The 2 Adjustment buttons allow you adjust the Clock Time, or allow you to adjust Timer 1 and/or Timer 2. NOTE: Timer 1 is the time refered to on the Heating / Hot Water Select buttons if you press "Once". If you select "Twice" on these the both Timer 1 and Timer 2 are taken into account. For example if you want Hot Water to come on Once between 8pm -10pm, but you want Heating to come on Twice between 6am - 7am, and 8pm -10pm, you have to do the following: Set Timer 1 to 8pm - 10pm, and set Timer 2 to 6am -7pm. Then select Once for Hot Water, and select Twice for Heating. Hope this helps.
