Unrecognized usb device

Hello,
I have a Vivitar Vivicam 3750. I have installed the driver on the software disk, but when I go to use the camera to transfer photos, my computer does not recognize my usb connection. I think it is the software that came with the camera. The cd is not scratched or smudged, it is perfect looking. I even had a friend come over and redo the driver again and it still happens.
