You can restore your laptop back to a date before the downloading a update.
Click Start Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore and select Restore my computer to an earlier time - Click Next and select the date before the update install
This should fix your problem.

No icons on start up

Sounds like a virus or infection has hidden your icons.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download andinstall malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When thesite opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do notclick the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the GuiInterface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version orDecline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run aQUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be inred. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad textdocument will open up showing you the results. You can close the textdocument and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTEDRESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When itfinishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot yourmachine.

The best way to speed up a slow running computer is to clean it for viruses. Also optimize your system, browser and registry using some reliable cleaner such as Reginout Cleaner.

> Turn on Windows Updates.

> Keep your device drivers updates.

I have a Dell Latitude D800, 1.7 GHz MS Windows XP Pro,1024 MB DDR2Ram,80 GB hard drive that takes 5 to 6 minutes to come on line in the mornings. I only have about 12 icons on my desktop and have defraged...

There are many issues that could slow a system down including programs and processes that start when Windows starts that are hidden in the background..Lets start with the easiest first... Go to WWW.IOBIT.COM > Downloads and download/install and run ADVANCED SYSYEM CARE Free edition.. It will clean optimize and speed up your pc. Then under UTILITIES (in ASC) there is a "start-up manager" where you can stop programs from starting at boot-up

Slow hard to start

I will just give you some reasons why computer starts slowly and I hope these will helps.

1.Theres a lot of program in your computer are set in Startup:

- Try to download "CCleaner", you can download this for free at filehippo.com

- As you install this, go to the tab "tools", you can find the Startup here. Delete all the programs here which you might not need during start up.

2. Theres a lot of junk files and registry errors in your system.

- Using CCleaner, clean the junk files and fix all registry errors,,do not back up during registry fix.

3. You have a lot of icons or shortcut in your Desktop.

- More icons or shortcut slowdown the startup of your pc because it times for the system to read this, other graphics and display at your desktop may also slows down the startup.

Hopes this will help...Comment if you like my post..Thanks..!

I downloaded some apps on my blackberry now i cant find my browser

On your main icon screen.. press the drop down menu key.. (the one to the left of the trackball) and select SHOW ALL... possibly the browser icon was hidden..

If not check your APPLICATIONS folder or other folder looking icons.. its probably down 1 level deep in one of the other icons

The wireless icon has vanished on my acer aspire one netbook and i cant get online

Go to Start/Settings/Network Connections. When the window opens right click on the Wireless Network Icon and select Properties. In XP there should be a check box to allow display of notification when connected. If some other OS, hold the right button down on the Icon and drag it to the task bar. It should drop an icon for showing the status.
Before doing all of this, is there an arrow to the left of the icons? If so, click on it see if the Icon is simply hidden.
