Question about Washing Machines
Stops, several bleeps then shows "LE" in display, & shuts down, even if machine is VERY lightly loaded. Sometimes works OK with bigger load, sometimes goes part way through, other times, stops during initial filling, sometimes goes right through until final spin. Does not seem to be load related - now. Will repower up after mains removed but sometimes fault shows, other times goes right through with no further problem. Machine is 4 years old but not had heavy useage (once or twice per week).
Problem appears sporadically. Machine fills but drum does not rotate or proceeds as normal until beginning of spin cycle. Water appears to have been pumped out OK. Filter is clean. Machine looks like new, 4 years old, not much used. Problem occurs whether large load, medium or even nothing at all. Looks like it may start, gives a little nudge, strange whining, but not loud noise, maybe from motor, and goes no further. Sometimes it will get into final spin cycle and then start adding water about 3 minutes from finish whilst spinning at high speed. Othertimes it works normal.
Machine has a bad motor or "stator" on this machine. It is a direct drive winding on the back of the machine. Remove the back panel, the one bolt removes the rotor then you will see the stator winding, replace it and your good to go.

Tips for a great answer:
Hello & Welcome to FixYa
LE error in your LG front load washer is displayed when either the motor is not working or the control board thinks that the motor is locked up. A Hall Effect sensor is used in these washers which monitors the speed and direction of the motor and then forwards this information to the control board. Hope you understand by now that this LE error is displayed when there is an issue with the motor or when the Hall Effect sensor sends wrong signal to the control. Conclusion is you'll have to check both motor and hall sensor and replace the part# that is bad, usually I have seen the sensor going bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
