You need to pop off the grille on the front of the speaker. It's glued to the front. I just used a flat head screwdriver and worked it evenly around to slowly slide it off. Then, unscrew the 4 phillips screws to get to the inside.

This procedure works well. Also note that where the volume control pot mounts to the circuit board there is an opening where the connecting pins come out of the body. That opening is where you spray the cleaner.

The volume control on my bx5a deluxe has a short. It has a "sweet spot" where it will play at one volume level. Do you have a part number or a solution?

part are difficult to find for this unit. I would suggest you take it apart and try to read the value on the volume "pot" and then get a replacement from radio shack parts, just remember to order "audio taper".

Problem with volume controlwhen i shake it the speakers crackle but no volume

It's just "dirt" on the mechanical part of the volume-control. Either you take the speakers apart, and use denatured alcohol and Q-Tips(tm) to clean that part, or you replace the volume-control, or you replace the speakers.

I have this set, and one of the speakers do not already function? can anyone tell me how to fix it...pls...

It may be the same problem as mine, a dirty volume control. It can be cleaned with contact cleaner, available from radio shack, or any electronics store. You need to pry the front grill off carefully with a flat screw driver, remove 4 screws to gain access to volume pot. Do both speakers work at some volumes?

Try to check for sound manager to check balance is on for both sides (left right) and wave balance is normal value. To call master volume just duble click system tray volume icon (next to clock) and check it.

Our logitech z-340 speakers are not working and there's no power?

Plug the satellites into the subwoofer, plug the mini jack into your computer, plug it into a wall out, and turn it on.

Scratchy loud noise when volume dial is turned

It means that the volume pot is dirty. You need to find a way to get some WD-40 into the pot. This usualy requires that you take the access to the inside off and spray right inside the pot.Once you do this move the volume dial from min to max a few times and it should fix it.

How to disassemble Logitech Z-340 sub-woofer

The speaker bezel can be removed in only two ways:

1) Somehow remove the grille in order to get a the screws which hold the bezel onto the cabinet. I tried to do this and couldn't get it to budge. Once I got the thing open I observed that Logitech used a LOT of glue to hold this thing together.

2) Drill holes THROUGH the grill above each of the 8 screws large enough so you can loosen the screws.

Once you get it open, you'll be shocked to discover what you thought was the subwoofer cone is actually A ROUND PIECE OF CARDBOARD fastened to the foam. The 4" driver is behind this fastened to a board halfway back pointing into the chamber containing the electronics.

You can get to the power transformer, but good luck removing it. The screws are nearly impossible to unfasten; more glue but more importantly incredibly awful access to the nut and screw (yes, a screw, not a bolt).

I wouldn't pay 5 bucks for this system. Luckily, I didn't.

Need wires for z-340

I just got one too. I guess I'll tear it apart and post the pinout. Also have a set of Altec Lansing satalites (ACS340) with the same connector (hmmmm, Z-340 -- ACS340... probably the same thing they just changed some pins)

I let you know!

Logitech Z340 Power speaker problem

yeah you can fix that one into your own. first thing that you do is get a multi-tester and put the two terminal the red one and the black into the tip of male plug of you wire. then set your multi tester into the ohms selector any ohm selector which found at the right side of the multi-tester. if the arm of multi-tester was moving it means OK... if not open the speaker carefully and reconnect the wire by using soldering iron & lead.
