Charged it less than 24 hours ago, and I've had it for about a month and charges have regularly lasted 3 days or so (I use it only for phone, no photos or anything else). I plug in the charger and get the "battery charging" message, but the battery never charges to a point where I can use the phone. If I unplug the charger, the phone just goes dead. I'm on a trip and am really going to need to use the phone a lot--am I going to have to replace it???

Re: phone went dead while talking
It sounds like you have a defective battery. Usually when batteries won't hold a charge for very long, then it's time to replace them. Was the phone brand new or used ? If it was used then I am surely gonna say battery, but if it was brand new then it might be something else. I would say that I'm 90% sure you have a bad battery. Hope this helps solve your problem.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

HEY THOSE CHINESE CHARGER ARE NOT GOOD.. THEY SUM HOW NEVER CHARGE THE BATTERY PROPERLY ND THE BACKUP IS LESS. CHARGE USING UR MOTOROLA CHARGER ND IF U STILL EXPERIENCE PROBLEM THEN U BETTER GO TO MOTOROLA
if u buy new battery for around 35$... its creepy thing that it again sucks within 6 month so follow these procedure that i really got good response
1)Buy the new battery from any other dealers (u can use Nokia (std) or LG, Micromax, Onida... etc) having same specifications as 1050mAh Lion-POLYMER 3.7v and having equivalent Size that fit into the case.
2)Now open ur dead battery, remove the sticker slowly, u wil get the polythene bag carrying the charge sheets
3)Please note that dont not disturb this polythene bag... (cutting, drilling or pinning), else it starts burning.
4)U will see a circuit above the polyhthene bag having two poles (+ve n -ve) just cut the poles of bag from the circuit and keep the bag aside
5)Now do the same procedure with new batt and remove the polythene bag.. and soilder with the dead battery circuit. (check the +ve n -ve by multimeter)
5)Re-assemble with insulation tape and recondition it perfectly.
now check poles bofore starting.
Note : i got good result from this and i m getting 18-19hrs standby and 11-15hrs usage. Do it on ur own risk...and i m not responsable for ny harm)
You probably need to replace your batteries again most batteries in a owc need to be charged 12 hrs a day for the first month at least to build up the capacity if not they will slowly dwindle and wont last long and will need to be replaced
I was just upgrading the Nokia software on my E65, connected with USB, charged and connected to charger for backup... and the phone just went dead. I've tried everything to get it going again including taking the batery out and outting it back in aain, holding the on/off button down for a minute - and nothing is happening. The screen is dead. Is Nokia's new upgrade causing this? I see two other posts to this site with the same problem in the past 24 hours. The upgrade was posted on Nokia.com 24 hours ago. my mail is firstname.lastname@example.org
it wont harm your phone they just recomend 24 hours to make sure the bat is ok and that it gets fully charged but remember to let your bat go totally flat from time to time this will prolong the life of your battery as it does them no good just keep topping it up so i sugest to let it go totally flat say once a month this will keep your battery lasting longer between charge hope this helps
A fully charged battery should last up to 4 hours if it's being used A LOT! But I lost mine and it was in standby mode for pretty close to 3 days and when I found it I was still able to use for quite awhile before charging it again.. So yes, it sounds like it had a weak battery..
