Hi Spittinlead,
Once you're inside windows, press the windows LOGO on your
keyboard and together with the L key.You should be send outside of windows(Windows Logoff). So if you're outside notice that how many icon(to select to log in windows) do you have ??? Incase one then you're the only Admin.
2.then go up to start-->settings--control Panels-->user ande check that it have administrator user and go change something in that account ..
3.Incase you're sure that you're admin but you've no right then you're attack by Virus. In this case try to search for removal tools
that solve admin problem
goodluck,takecare.

If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" (available fairly cheap online) to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer.
Good luck.

Factory reset

If you restore the laptop to the Out of the box condition you will lose all your data.
You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD.
Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions.
There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program.
Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :-
http://www.hirensbootcd.net/

After fixing your admin password then create a new one and do not lend your laptop to your room mates.

Bought used Dell latitude D600-has administrative password-Can you please tell me how to get rid of it. thank you

Reformat the hard drive and buy your own copy of the operating system. The person you bought it from may have the password or the recovery disk if your lucky. There is no majic work around for an admin password.

Boot up requests password, password not known/forgot

what operating system are you using, Also try turning the computer off and then back on as soon as you see the manufacturer logo you should start hitting F8, Once that happens you will see a menu that says you can start in safe mode. Start the computer in safe mode, Then when windows loads u you should have a user named Administrator, If there is and admin does not have a password log in.
Once in under admin go to start menu, Then to control panel, User accounts and then click on the other account and remove password.
I tell you this believing it is your computer, If it is not be aware that the person when they sign on will notice their password is missing.
Only use the above to check your own computer when doing so to get into someone elses computer not only is it wrong but rude. So please make sure its for good intentions not bad ones. snooping is not nice.

I just reset my computer and it has a new admin password, can you tell me what it could be?? thanks

if this is a new installation it could be admin admin or admin enter key only ( blank)

otherwise its not possible to guess what it was changed to if not a new installation. there is software that you can buy to crack it.

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

I have a half white screen and the other half is usable..!

You mom will not kill you, the fault was probably not caused by you (you can tell her I told you)..
The fault most likely a faulty video chip on the laptop or a faulty connector between the laptop motherboard and the LCD screen. You can connect the laptop to an external monitor and the power the laptop up, if the image on the monitor is OK then the video chip is OK.
If the laptop is new then it should be under warranty, get it fixed or replaced.

My admin account wont work

Did you downloaded that on a virus-free website like www.download.com? And one more thing, when you mean "I can't use my admin account", do you mean windows is telling you that the password you enter is wrong? If that's the case try booting into safe mode (by pressing F8 before the XP Logo). By default, XP have a built-in "Administrator" account name & the password is blank. You should be able to login with that & try to change your password on your account on the user accounts setting on control panel.

Hope this helps.

ngkimfatt:
It could be Permissions problem, try assigning full admin rights to the person logging in on the local computer and then try logging into hotmail if this does not help:
You have to delete the local profile of the person who is trying to logon to hotmail. To delete the profile:
log on to the local computer as an administrator, (you might have to restart the machine before doing this to release any profiles).
-go to c drive, documents and settings, simply delete the profile of the person who is trying to log onto hotmail.
-Make another user or the same username, assign appropriate rights and log on, you will be fine.
NOTE: I FULLY RECOMMEND TO PLEASE BACKUP ANY IMPORTANT DATA FROM C DRIVE OF THAT PERSON'S PROFILE TO ANOTHER PLACE LIKE D DRIVE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE.
