Hi nmkinslow89,

Check your memory. try it on a different notebook if its working, if its not then its your memory is defective if not,
the motherboard or video card is the issue.

Hopefully it helps,
Thanks

When i start using my laptop , suddenly white screen and forcible shutdown,.

It sounds like it's overheating, make sure the airways are clear of dust and listen for the sound of the fan inside, this could have failed..

My laptop is stuck on the screen before the page for the login screen, it is a blinking dash, with a black backdrop, it has been stuck for 2 days, what is wrong with it? And how can i fix it?

If the DeLL Post screen comes up it means that your laptop is okay. Pretty much your windows is corrupted and that's the reason why it's not starting up.

Things that you can do: (for windows vista & windows 7 only)

1. Restart the PC and immediately press F8. (You need to tap/press F8 repeatedly while starting up). You should get a screen that says "Advanced option menu."
2. Select Last known good configuration. If it does not work. restart the pc and press F8 again.
3. Select Repair your computer.
4. Run start up repair. If nothing happens. Run system restore. If it fails, the boot manager file of windows is corrupted.

Last option, you could try Dell PC Restore by pressing CTRL + F11 at the same time while the system is starting up. (You could start pressing CTRL + F11 when the DELL flash screen comes up).

NOTE: Running Dell PC Restore will erase your files/data & put your system back to factory settings.

Please try to unplug the laptop from power and remove the battery for over 10 seconds. Then start it up again. There are other things we can try if this does not work.

I just got a toshiba m305 satallite laptop with Vista. I was playing a game and ran out of battery. After plugging in the machin willl turn on and go to the cmos setup screen but then nothing. Just a...

Had the same thing happen to me a month or two ago, Battery recharge is taking up all the current flow for a period of time. Leave it alone for about 30 minutes to recharge, then you should be able to operate the laptop again, but will have to remain hooked to outlet power until battery is fully recharged.

Black Screen

Thinking about this one I really think the video had nothing to do with the black screen. I would try to things one is reset the power management. Not know exactly what Powerbook you have I will give the most common way. Remove the Battery and the power cord from the powerbook, wait a few minutes then hold the power button for about 40 seconds. Then put the battery and power cord back in and restart it. The second thing to do is boot from the install disk that came with it and run the disk utility. I have also seen bad RAM do this but you would get at least a chime on startup.

Problem restarting, "press r"

  1. Start the laptop
  2. when the logo screen turns black start pressing F8 a few times.
  3. A Windows Boot Options screen should show on the screen
  4. If you see the Windows Logo (the normal thing when Windows loads, then press reset and try again
  5. At the Windows Boot Options screen select "Last known good configuration" and press Enter twice
It "should" now load normally, if not then..
  1. Replace step 5 above with "Safe Mode" and see if that loads all the way through. If so, then restart and see if its OK now.
If not, then post back with any error messages and we can look at something else.
