Be sure to check your SAME codes. When I received mine, it was new in the box, but had SAME codes for another state pre-programmed into the unit. You can get the codes from Midland website.

The WR-100 is slightly smarter than the average basic weather radio and therefore has a fair amount of programming loaded into it's firmware. (for good or bad)

It's not impossible for a power failure or spike to cause the internal processor to become confused every once and a while.

You may need to perform a full reset.

Remove the power adapter, remove the batteries and then press and hold the "WEATHER / SNOOZE" bar to bleed off any remaining charge in the capacitors and then plug the AC adapter back in.

Install fresh or known good batteries.

You've now essentially "rebooted" your radio and hopefully it will now function correctly again.

The only drawback is that you will have to reset any custom programming. As nifty as SAME technology is, I rarely use the function.

April 4, 2011 a tornado knocked out the transmitter tower for my county, Dickson, TN ...I need a new same code and frequency for my alarm.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you are viewing this. Thank you for taking the time to read this solution post. You are asking for the frequency channel and S.A.M.E code for Dickson County, Tennessee? Well you have come to the right place. I am going to give you the website where you can obtain this information.

http://www.weather.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrTN.htm

Use the scroll down button to move to the Ds', as this is where your county will be listed. This website will give you all the information you need to program into your radio. The website also lists the areas that have DEGRADED transmitter towers. The town of Clarksville was one of those areas. Your county is one of the luckier counties as your county has more than one transmitter tower.I would advise you to choose another frequency channel in your county nearest your city, other than the one in Clarksville. Hope you didn't receive to much damage in your county. My state (North Carolina) and surrounding areas, received a series of tornadoes recently which caused property damage, injuries and even fatalities. I had my Midland Weather Radio on and it alerted about 3 Tornado Warnings and 2 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in my area. These things will come in handy especially around Severe Weather Season. Once again, thanks for reading this solution and choosing FixYa as your one-stop solution spot for all of your problems! Radio does not alert

set it for county code 99999. make sure you can hear the station when you press the WEATHER button. You should see NOAA in the display window. The radio is tested every Wednesday between 11am and 12 noon and you should have a TEST message every Wednesday if it is working. You can set it for Display only, Voice or Siren, so check your menu settings, okay?

Keeps flashing check reception

I unplugged mine, took out the back up batteries, and waited several minutes.

I reinstalled the batteries, plugged it back in, and reset the time.

For now, it seems to have solved the problem.

Not receiving alerts anymore...

My wr-100 came with a special note inserted with the instructions that the WR-100 was programmed to not give off an audible alert on tests. This is to supposedly protect you from thinking you have a real emergency. Mine is new. Maybe the older ones had an audible test alert. I assume yours gave an alert at one time??
