LCD monitors do not need degaussing. They operate in a completely way to CRT monitors.
Tiny black marks are most likely dead pixels, if the black marks are large then the LCD screen may be damaged (cracked glass).
This type of damage cannot be repaired simply, the screen needs to be replaced.
I suggest you put your money towards a new LCD monitor.

Yes Jose, this problem very popular! It has to do with degausing the tube. Make sure you dont have any speakers close to your set also.
Its likely you will have to replace the PTC, some models have 2pin and some 3pin. Ciao

Sony Trintron KV-36HS500 TV color distortion

Sounds like the set is out of degausing, you will need someoen with a degausing coil to come and fix it. Should take all of 10 seconds and cost $100 or less. Let me know if you need more help.

AKAI CFT2726 picture sides cut off.

If it is a picture tube type TV not a plasma or lcd try degausing the picture tube. I think Radio Shack carries degausers or find the plans for one on the net.

Monitor problem

If a CRT type monitor, it sounds like something with a strong magnet (such as speaker) has been placed too close to it, magnetising the screen. Not sure if this monitor has a degaus control. If it does, operate it, if not, you may need to find a friendly TV repair man that will do this for you.
