The hang up is LIKELY due to the unit NOT getting a ready signal from the internal HD or CD.

If you can do a FORMAT on the HD by doing an initialize that would be the first thing to try.

These two devices may have a failure... OR the best case is if a cable connector to them has fallen off.

Yamaha P-250 Stage Piano won't boot up...

Yamaha pianos go through a self test on start up. This could indicate a problem on the main motherboard.

Try a hard reset.

Hold down top C key while turning on.

Wait for it to start up, if it still freezes its time to take it to the repair shop.

I think I've a failed unit. Turning it on - the USB flashes and then it remains on the logo splash screen. I have tried numerous times to factory resent - holding down the System button on power on,...

It MAY be waiting for an UPDATE of firmware via USB. In other words you may have triggered an update mode that it will not exit without sending an update. The second possibility that comes to mind is that one of the buttons or the switch behind it may be stuck which can lock up the processor. Look for a button stuck in or that feels un-normal.

As i play notes on my yamaha dgx 500 some keys remain showing on the little screen until a note or notes repeat continually.i can only remove this by turning it off ,sometimes the notes stop sounding...

Check if you MIGHT be in a "guide" or learning mode. Some Yamaha synths have a mode that will play and then wait for you to hit the right key before moving on. If this is not the problem, a fix is not DIY and will require repair. I assume you are NOT using MIDI as in that case it is called "dreaded MIDI drone" and is due to data looping back into the unit which is an external fault.

I plug two roland pk-5a to have 1 octave above the other one but the problem is I can't play in the BASS MODE or MONO MODE with the HOLD function on and stop the note I play on one unit when i play a note...

If you have two MIDI sources that you send on the same MIDI or to the same MIDI sound generator you have to use a "MIDI MERGER" or you will get notes stuck on. A MIDI merger assembles complete messages before sending them to their destination. Without it, the messages are mixed which makes them garbled.

I have a pmp 3000 and a pmp 6000. what is the best wast to run out of the boards to the speakers? and is it better to run in mono?

No preference, just use mode that fits your venue. As far as system safety I would run in Stereo A/B rather than bridged mode.

Now please read my tip about PMP units on Fixya regarding a hazard if you convert the Speakon outputs at some point to 1/4 inch plugs. If you do this, please note that the SLEEVE, not the tip on channel A is HOT to ground and shorting this to ground will often fry channel A. Channel "B" the tip is the hot speaker lead. Thsi is done by Behringer to facilitate switching to bridged mode.

Hi. How do I fix a CD deck that wont open if I press eject? The deck refused to open with a CD inside. The deck wont play the CD if I press play and wont eject if I press eject. please help. Thanx TC

To retrieve the CD safely, the safest way is to open the unit. A common problem is that a tiny belt from a motor that drives the eject deteriorates and slips so there isn't sufficient drive to move the mechanism. The unit is probably in a mode expecting to eject and has commanded the motor but it doesn't complete... Do as I say and open the unit to do the retrieval. Then get unit serviced.

I own an akai XR20 drum machine. Was using it and the thing froze. The toggle still changes the bpm but nothing else works, and the (a) button is not flashing, though all else is lit. please help!

If you were in Record mode and forgot to press stop it will loop continuously until you do.Try holding Pattern/Song and press Play to see if it will play the demo song. What does the display LCD say? Are you stuck in System Setup mode? Are you stuck in Record Setup mode? If the record button is not flashing you are not in Record mode.Have a look at page 15 in the manual and see if it will go into Pattern mode. I forgot to ask you if you have a manual. If not you can download one here:http://www.akaipro.com/contentmgr/showdetails.php/id/1163/tt/5 The reason I asked you about the footswitch is that when you power up the XR20 checks the footswitch jack to see what kind of footswitch you are using. The manual unfortunately doesn't mention what would happen if the jack failed. This can happen sometimes when a cord plugged into a jack gets kicked. The solder joint between the circuit board and the jack fails rendering the jack non functional. I also didn't ask you if you are using batteries or the correct power supply. Try describing to me what the display says. Let me know if any of this helped.

Fredy 2 I am trying to play chords with my fingers, there is no sound, if it is on any other mode the chords work but i need it to be on fingered mode thanks doreen

OK... It wasn't clear from the original.

Sometimes the keyboard has a mode that splits for upper and lower part of the keyboard, usually splitting at the F#/G. Also CERTAIN voices will ONLY sound one note at a time. Piano setting would not have this problem of course.

When you play a single note does that sound? If it doesn't in the fingered mode, then there may be a processor problem in the unit/

If it does, there is probably a problem in the matrix that scans the keyboard electrically. If one of the keys were ELECTRICALLY stuck on, the processor within could not read whole sections of the keyboard.

To troubleshoot the problem, press exactly one key at a time... do they all work for say a piano voice while in the fingered mode.

Next press a key at the high end of the keyboard and try others. See if you can find an octave that fails to work.

The problem is likely imbedded in the electronics and could be anything from a dirty key contact to a cracked circuit board. It is NOT likely you can fix this yourself unless you are experienced in electronics.
