Question about Jensen Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I bought the jensen vm8113 for the dvd player. I travel a lot with my family and thought that the dvd player would keep my passengers occupied while i drive. Problem once i installed it, i found out that to use the dvd function the parking brake has to be on. Is there any way to wire it differently to bypass this as it defeats the purpose i bought the radio for. I drive an 04 Saturn ion

To be honest with you, it's a very easy fix. If you read the install manual it shows the parking brake needs a negative (-) to function. In theory you hook this to the parking brake and when it's applied it will sent a negative to the attached wire, thus activating the playback. Just attach this wire to the negative ground on the system or wire a switch and install it in dash. With 1 wire going to the parking brake wire on the cd and the other going to the ground so you can de-activate it when you wish.

My head unit has "ate"

Unfortunately, it's common for this type of slot-loading disc player to "eat" disks. You can take a shot at removing it yourself, but most car audio stores should be able to disassemble it and take the disc out.

Is there anyways to override the parking brake line on a jensen vm8113

g brake line is just an earth, its a safety precaution so you dont watch and crash, if you want to have it play while you drive simply earth that wire somewhere else. connect it to the earth on your dvd player itself that will trick the system into thinking the park brake is up.hope this helps and please drive carefully :p

How do I disable the parking brake safety feature on a jensen VM8113 car dvd player?

I have this exact same unit, here's what you do:

1) Cut the little weird "do-hickey" off the end of the pink wire so that the wire looks like all the other wires.

2) Strip some of the coating from around the tip of the wire (so the wire is exposed).

3) Ground that wire to the unit itself under one of the clips or something (as long as its metal).

4) Pop a dvd in and it will play irregardless of the parking brake position.

5) This definitely works, however, I'm assuming this is so your family can watch and not you, right?

Having problems wiring a jensen vm8113 to my '05

any time I would wire an amp in my car I'd hard wire the power to the battery and the remote line would go to the fuse box ( cigg, acc, dome light, ect...)usually on the back of any after market head unit the remote line is blue or blue with a white stripe and most always it will have a connection crimped on the end.

I can't seem to get any power to our DVD player through the cigerette lighter using a new Jensen DC converter. The lighter works.

You can get something that plugs into your cigarette lighter that actually looks like a plug socket. Where you can just plug a normal plug into it. So you could use your normal mains adaptor in it. I think I got mine from the Pound Shop. So keep your eye out when you next visit. We use it to plug the kids Playstation into when we travel in the car, and they can play it on our dual-screen dvd player.
Hope this helps

Jensen head unit VM9311TS no sound from CD

Should wire HU's Power Const to Amp's Remote On. Instead you wired HU's Power Antenna to Amp's Remote On. So the stock amp got triggered only in radio mode.
