Remove your memory modules and check it is prompting the same error code. If you getting the same error code check with different memory module in different slot (if your motherboard having multiple memory slot). Again you getting same error clean the memory slot with a antistatic brush (if it is not available use tooth brush) and IPA. Insert memory module and check again, if you still in the same error remove the front panel cable and check.

If u have another pc at home ,u could try the memory from the dell in it if its compatible.(by dell) reseat the memory, any add in cards, and any video cards, and check all power supply cables to the mb.per the dell site(the 2 beeps are for the memory moduals) though it said to take out the memory and put 1 of them in and boot,if it works fine, then check the other 1.

I have a dell inspirion 531 and cannot get it to start...tried f8 & f11 ad nothing works...what r my options to set back to factory

if you've tried f8 and f11 (although i think you should be pressing f12) then there is only one logical step and that is to reinstall. you can download a version of whatever windows OS it came with and use the sticker on the machine for the serial key. you can then go to to download the correct drivers for your hardware.

I have vista on my dell inspiron 531s. Once it goes into hibernation, it won't come out of it when I move the mouse. I have to turn it off without powering down correctly. How do I fix this?

If it didn't used to be a problem, but now is, and you've added some program recently, try removing that program. Other than that, the solution is probably too difficult to track down, so open the power settings in your control panel and set the power savings mode to never, never, never to keep it from hibernating.

No power when I push the power button.

This may be that either your power button is stuck or dirty or broken worn or your power supply unit went bad. You can replace these rather cheap these days. I get them at just remove the cover and get the same one as you have replace and you are on your way again. I do not believe it is the mother board. If you are not sure how to do this take it in and have it tested it is cheaper than a new computer to get it done correctly then spend money on this trying to isolate the issue. This is usually a sign of a bad power supply unit, thanks for using FixYa! John

Try another monitor first, if that causes the same error message, suspect Graphics card problem, try replacement graphics card. One long beep points also to Ram issues
