I presume you mean the login and password to configure the router.
Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the LAN port on the wireless router.
Open a browser and enter the router's configuration URL.
The Linksys configuration URL is
http://192.168.1.1
and the default login = admin
the default password = admin

I can't connect using my wireless... but when I connect directly to the modem I can get internet access. It keeps asking me for a pin number and I have no clue how to set it up. Please advice on what...

Hello ...
are you already check the router>?below router to find password/pin code
it have their pin code there.

Step 1:
Flip the device over.

Step 2:
You should find the model number on the sticker underneath the device. See the image below.

kb3655-041_en.png

NOTE: Take note of the exact model number and version of your Linksys device. In this example, the model number of the device is WRT54G v5.

Step 3:
Check the serial number which is located right underneath the model number.

NOTE: The images may vary depending on the model number of your Linksys product. If there is no version number beside the model number it means the device is a version 1.

you get it number?

then try again connet with it and enter the pin code same like you get from router

MY NEW LAPTOP WON'T CONNECT TO THE ROUTER WHEN I PUT THE PIN NUMBER IN....WHY?

1-In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

I cant figure out where the pin number

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network on a WINDOWS VISTA / 7 computer? Sometimes on the windows vista computer , it will ask you for the PIN number when you try to connect to the wireless network. On the same window at the bottom you will find the option " I want to connect to the network or I want to enter the key manually". If you click on that option , it will ask you for the security key.
If you don't know the security key, then you will need to check the settings of the router. You will need to open the router set up page where you can check all the wireless settings of teh router. If you want, you can also find the PIN on the wireless settings page of the router.
If you are trying to connect any other wireless device to the network and it is asking you for the PIN then you will need to open the set up page of the router and under wireless settings you will find PIN.

How do laptops connect to my wireless router?

Hi,
Wireless routers were configured with some security PIN in order to avoid unauthorized connections to your router. To connect to your router, just providing the PIN will do and no need of complex settings. Contact the service engineer who configured your router last time and tell him to configure your router with whatever preference you need. you can also set it in public mode so it wont ask anything and so anyone can connect into your router but this is not secure at all.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks

Router asks for some kind of pin...

I have never heard of such. Sound like your computer is tring to get you to enter the WEP key or Passphase to access the router.
If you don't have a WEP key or Passphase setup on the router then you should just be able to click "ok" or "enter" (with the field blank) and bypass this screen.

Also check your network properties on the computer that is giving you trouble. Open your network connection, right click your wireless connection and click on "properties". Check the tabs and make sure you don't have WEP or secure network highlighted in one of the check boxes.
