Thread Tension

Are you using a plastic bobbin? I had that problem using plastic bobbins, Switched to metal bobbins and it solved that problem.

Also check to see if your bobbin's thread is wound tightly around it. If you can 'squeeze' the wound thread and it feels like it's not firm, the bobbin might need to be rewound.

It gathers all the string in the bottom

Check the bobbin to see if the thread on it is wound tightly. If it's not, then rewind the bobbin. Plastic bobbins tend to get nicks in the edge of them which can catch the thread. Try switching to a metal bobbin.

My bobbin won't catch on the bobbin winder, the metal post spins but the plastic singer style bobbin won't spin with it. What's wrong?

The bobbin may be stripped, or the bobbin winder might be stripped; try it with a different bobbin, to rule out the bobbin being the issue; if that doesn't work, look closely at the bobbin winder to see if it has been damaged. You may be able to adjust it's shape with a pliers

My boobin "casing" is not

I use a metal #15 bobbin, and I seem to have no problems as I had with the 15j plastic. Make sure that you are seating the bobbin case correctly, you should feel it click in the machine securely, you have a vertical bobbin on this machine so it is a little trickier. Another thought is to go to JoAnn fabrics and let them demonstrate a Singer Simple 3116 for you. If, you bought from them, they may offer free lessons,

What series bobbin do I use for a singer simple sewing machine model no. 3116

Download a manual at www.singerco.com and it will say, 15J but, personally I like to use a metal SA 156 and I have no jamming like I do with plastic bobbins. You can buy them really cheap on ebay, 20 for $8.99 and free shipping, Very quick delivery. I have had no jamming after I started using the metal ones. Good luck

My Singer 3116 keeps jamming - the thread is getting caught in the hook, I guess (gets tangled up underneath). The troubleshooting guide says to lubricate it, but the diagram is so ambiguous, I can't tell...

I have the same machine, get yourself some SA 156 metal bobbins on ebay, 20 for $8.99 and free shipping. I always had problems with the plastic ones, I think that they are too light. You may be able to find the metal ones in your area but the ebay price is better.

My singer simple is missing stitches when ziz zagging? only appears to be on the top

I would try a metal bobbin, SA 156 or a Singer 15j. The SA 156 metal bobbins can be bought really cheap on ebay for $8.99 free shipping and there are 20 in the package. My 3116 sometimes will act up with the plastic bobbins and this cleared it up for me. Hope this helps you. You may be able to find the bobbins local because it is the same one they use in Brother machines but they will cost you more. Good luck
