On your remote is a button called Format - you press it to change the way the image is displayed. But for more detailed instructions we need to know the exact model of your tv and if you use the original remote.
What you are describing is called overscan. To get rid of it you must go into the hidden service menu: pressing the 'menu' button on the remote and on the tv for few seconds will pop up the hidden settings menu - in there you will find the option to disable overscan. Be very careful, don't mess with other settings in there, you can brick your tv very easily.
Yes, it's a model made specially for UK. In that case look for JustScan and enable it - it's the opposite of overscan. If this is also missing then look for any option relating to format. If none are available then on your model it can't be changed, sorry.

My TV is an LG model 37LC7D. I am using the remote that comes with the set. There is no button called "format". You may be thinking of the button that changes the aspect ratio. When I am watching an HD telecast, I am in the 16:9 mode. I do not want to change the aspect ratio' I just want to be able to shrink the picture slightly so that supers in the picture do not bleed off the screen.
I followed your suggestion and the hidden menu came up but there was no mention of overscan. The model number that came up on the hidden menu was 37LC7D-UK. Does that mean that the set was meant for use in the UK? Maybe their terminology is different? Thank you for your patience.
