Question about Frigidaire FAA068P7A Air Conditioner

2 Answers

I have Frigidaire Thru-the-Wall electronic control air conditioner: Model# FAH146R2T. The unit is two years old. I had it served five months ago. The unit seems to be emitting a foul odor. When I shut the unit off and open the windows, the smell goes away. When I turn the unit back on, the next day, I can smell it. The filter is clean. Could there be mold or something inside? The instructions do not provide any information on cleaning the unit besides the filter. What do I do?

thanks for comment I have a thru-the-wall unit. I don't see how to follow your instructions. I'd have to hire someone two people to come take it out of the wall (that's how many it took to install it). Frigidaire has nothing in its manual to help locate the drain line or really anything on the inside.

Hi,
As the smell comes only when the Air conditioner is on. The problem is due to the refrigerant inside.May be due to long usage the refrigerant as lost its property. Please drain out all the refrigerant and refill it.You wont get the foul smell problem.
Thank You

Follow these steps to remove Bad Odors From an Air Conditioner:
•1
Locate your air conditioner's condensation drain line.
•2
Remove this line and flush it with bleach water to kill mold and mildew. Allow this to dry thoroughly before you replace it.
•3
Find the drip pan located near the heat exchange on your furnace. Remove this tray and clean it thoroughly with hot, soapy water. Allow it to dry and then put it back.
•4
Lift the top of your air conditioning unit to expose the inside.
•5
Use a flashlight and visually inspect every area of the inside of your unit. Look for anything that would cause odor or smells such as rotting vegetation or dead animals. Remove all debris.
•6
Spray foaming coil cleaner and allow it to sit for five to ten minutes. This will soften and loosen dirt, grime and oil.
•7
Hose out the unit. Continue to run the water through the unit until the water runs clear.

Does the Frigidaire FAH106S1T Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner recycle inside air or pull in air from outside? Also, how do I close the vent on this model?

yes it does recycle the inside air - it 'does not' pull outside air in (in the air conditioning mode).
The 'exhaust/outside air' vent - 'if it has one' (some don't these days) will usually be a manual pull/push lever, although I guess it might be a electrical/electronic switch.
hope this has helped.

Window unit will not power up

You need to check for voltage to the display. Just knowing the plug is working doesn't tell you that the electronics are getting power. It is possible that the power cord is bad. Once you have tested the unit and the unit is actually getting power to the display, then it's probably the control board in this unit.

One year old window heat pump unit will not power

Is it not coming on? If it isn't, is the control pad lighting up? Is any of the electronics lighting up? If not, then the control board is probably bad. You will need to check voltages to the control board.

clean your return air filter, and while you have the front cover off you may want to clean the evaporator as well (it's the silver grill looking thing) some compressors come off their springs during transport and will rattle for years but still work fine.
