SOURCE: my samsung monitor doesn't display

To verify if it is the monitor problem or the PC problem, you can try this monitor with another PC or this PC with another monitor. From what you are saying, it is more likely to be the monitor problem due to common problem with bad DC filter caps, as you can see in my FAILED SAMSUNG album here:

Your lcd screen is going bad. It's either the lcd screen or the video card inside the computer. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok then your video card is ok, but your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same as your original monitor then your video card is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If the video shows on the external monitor that proves your video card is ok, ,but your lcd screen is bad. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Video driver is not connecting

What do you mean the video driver is not connecting? Exactly what is happening? You don't connect the video driver to anything, it's software inside the computer.

Maybe you are saying your screen is not displaying anything. If so, the issue could be the video driver or the monitor. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then your video card is ok, but your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does not display then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Either your screen is bad or the video card inside the computer is bad. Try connecting an external monitor to the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then your video card is ok, but your lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor rolls and does not work, then the video card inside the computer is bad.

On acer aspire5755g lcd flash lines will appear and disappear when clicking on display

Sounds like your lcd is going bad. Try tapping the lcd on the back of the lid and see if the lines flash or appear. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the flash lines then the video card inside the computer is good, but your original lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays the flash lines like your lcd screen then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The monitor works ok, but I have to switch it on and off to display anything on the screen. I have changed the graphics card but to no avail. The display info is getting to the monitor but doesn't

Check your cable between the computer and the monitor, It may be a non-sensing cable which will be missing one of the pins so the monitor is not getting the correct data from the computer.

My computer's tower turns on but it doesn't display on the monitor, the monitor shows the normal Self test box so the monitor doesn't seem to be the problem. Also when I press the power off...

Make sure that the cable is connected from your computer to the monitor, and if it is wiggle it and push it in all the way. If it has screws, screw them in. If that does not work, check that your monitor is on the correct input (if it has multiple) then see if anything comes on the monitor. If nothing happens you should buy a new cable from the store. If all of those steps do not work your computer or your monitor might have a more serious problem.

I try to boot up and the dash lights up but the screen won't respond - totally blank. tried to hook up an external monitor and it doesn't see anything -- is it necessarily toast?

If you did press on Fn+F5 when you connected an external monitor on your portable system, the problem lies on the video card of your computer. You may need to have it replaced. If you do not see nothing at all on your LCD display or the external monitor, definitely your video card is busted. But if you at least see something before you get the blank screen, there might still be a bit of hope. Try the following troubleshooting step in case.
1. Boot to the Advanced boot option by tapping on F8 as you turn your computer on. 2. Go to the device manager. (windows key + r, then type devmgmt.msc, then press ok) 3. Click on the plus sign on the display adapter. 4. Right click on the device listed under the display adapter then choose uninstall. 5. Restart the computer to normal mode. 6. Download and install the appropriate video driver that is available on the link.
ATI Video driver
Intel Video driver
Nvidia Video driver
Note: Make sure that you remember the correct driver for your computer as Acer posts three possible video cards for the computer model that you have.
