    1. To remove the thermostat:

      1. Disconnect the capilary tube and push it through the back oven wall, being careful not to break the flammable capillary tube wire.

      2. Remove the screws that secure the thermostat to the control panel
and gently pull the thermostat out, leaving the wires in place.

    2. To install a new thermostat, reverse the disassembly procedure

My toaster oven elements heat up pretty quickly and then go out for a few minutes and them come back on and keep doing that....toast doesn't get done because of it and tonight I tried to cook some hot...

You trouble is intermittent operation. Fix it by checking the thermostat and power button switch also the cord. Check it use a analog tester set to Rx1. All of that is test through continuity, so if there no fluctuation in the meter reading, there is defective parts. An intermittent part(s) operate sometimes good and sometimes bad. Check those parts carefully.
Good luck.

I have a kenmore self cleaning gas oven. the pilots light, the broil kicks on, but preheat won't start. what can i do?

Ok well heres the deal. I'm assuming that because this is a self cleaning oven then its probably fairly new in which case you probably don't have actual pilot lights on there but "glowbars" which are called ignitors. If this is the case, and you can see your ignitors for the bake and broil both glowing then chances are you have a weak bake ignitor. If the ignitor is not getting hot enough, then it will not send enough current to the gas valve to energize it (allowing it to open and let gas in). If its not glowing at all you can just get a voltage detector (you can buy them at walmart for about 10 bucks) turn the oven on and use your wand to see if the ignitor is getting power. If it is then its going to actually be open or shorted.

Overall deal is that 95/100 times if you have a gas oven with ignitors and its not baking its and bad or weak ignitor. They cost about 60-90 bucks.

If your oven does indeed have a pilot light then you will have a bad thermocouple or possibly obstructed burner tube.

Hope this helps _MJ_

All the lights, display, etc. work on the oven but no heat

First and foremost check the breaker box. Ovens use 240 volts which is a double breaker in the box. Just to be safe I would click both breakers off and then back on together. If this doesnt work turn off the power and have someone help you pull the oven out and check your plug or connection. You may be dealing with a broken wire in the junction box due to the power outage. If you have a volt meter turn the power on SAFETLY and test if your getting 240 volts. If the connections are good (including the one from the juction box to the stove itself) and you are getting proper votage, unfortunatley you are going to have to get a new control. What happens is with only 120 volts going to the oven everything runs but your elements (they utilize the 240 volts to heat). You can tell time or use the timer but without your full 240 your turkey aint gonna cook. There is 120 volts coming coming from each of those breakers you checked in the garage. Bottom line is the chances of both elements going out at the same time are slim to none and I feel you are probably dealing with a broken wire.

Gas Oven does not work.

Here's the deal about those igniters. They get "weak". See? That safety valve is there to monitor how much current (amps) is flowing through the igniter. Once the correct amperage is satisfied, the safety valve "knows" that the igniter is hot enough to ignite gas so it opens up and allows gas to flow through the manifold.

The reason you can tap the valve to light the gas is that the valve is almost ready to open anyway. You just send it over the top by tapping it. So, the fix for this one is to replace the igniter. All your troubles will be gone then... well... not "all", but the oven will work! Here's the igniter or you can use this one...a universal igniter and cheaper, too!). Hopefully, you have an appliance parts place locally, if not you can get it online.

Hope this helped!

I have a Frigidaire stove model number fef364dwa everything works on control panel. all surface lights work, clock works oven controls work, only the eyes don't get hot and oven doesn't get hot. do you have...

your stove is 220 volts, the lights, clock and controls, they work on 110 volts, and when there is a short on the 220 part of the stove, the elements work on 110 volts.that's the reason they only get warm. there is a short in your stove.

Pilot Light Wont Light

Take off the top cover plate inside the oven. Now with the door open turn the oven on does the hot surface glow? If it doesn't glow then you have a bad igniter and needs to be replaced. What ever you do don't touch the surface of the new igniter human oil will shorten the life of the igniter. now if the hot surface glows then the gas valve is bad and need to be replaced. I'm betting it's the hot surface.

Oven

the igniter is not getting hot enough. It can get hot enough to allow gas to flow but not quite enough to ignite the gas. It is an easy fix. The igniter is usually under the floor of the oven.
