I have Dell Inspiron 1564. There has been a problem since 2-3 months that the screen when working in Windows goes completely white. However, all the applications are working well in the background. At first, I thought it was a Windows related issue and updated BIOS drivers twice, but no result. Secondly, I downloaded the latest version of Intel GMA HD Graphics Controller (built-in) from Dell as well as Intel site, but no success. Yesterday, when I started, the screen went white on the Dell startup page (during POST process). Which means that it cannot be resolved by drivers/bios anymore. OS: Windows 7 Dell Inspiron 1564 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (built-in) 2 GB DDR3 250 GB HD Laptop under warranty: 174 days remaining Does anybody having the same issue ? Any solutions ?

I would run a simple memory test over it, sounds liek a basic form of video corruption.. and as video shares ram, if you get faulty ram, you can also get video curruption..

you can download and use a utility cd with a good selection of RAM diagnostic utilities on it, i personally use the ultimate boot CD, obtainable here:

simply burn the ISO to a cd using burnaware or alcahol free, boot to it and run a test, it will soon tell you if that is the problem.

Here is problem in my newly laptop Dell Inspiron 1564. When i start it it screen shows totally white . After again and again start it is start and after some time or during my working it is again...


Try to plug in an external display (take the one of your desktop PC if you have). If it works on an external as normal then the problem is physical and it has to do only with the screen (new screen or invertor, or screen cable). If the same problem happens on the external monitor, do not touch the screen part. the problem then must be either video card or motherboard. I suggest try to do this trick with the external monitor to find the problem for youself and then use your warranty and bring it to the shop to have it repaired.

I have Dell inspiron 1564 (windows 7 64 bit). The monitor goes blank with a screeching noise. I have run the PSA diagnostics but it showed no problem. The laptop runs normally otherwise but this problems...


I now have the same problem with the same Dell model (1564) for the second time in less than a year from purchase. The last time it happened I called the service technician who fixed it. That makes me wonder if this may be a common defect in this dell model, which requires a technician visit every 4 months. I advise you to apply to the company and ask for solution such as providing you a different model as a substitute for the defective one.

As you are using dell inspiron 1564 it comes with a atleast 512mb graphics card by default. If you are not able to play games on it due to Vga problem first check you install the proper vga display drivers for the laptop or try to reinstall the vga display driver again from the drivers disk you get with the laptop. After installation of proper vga drivers all your games will work perfectly.

First of all, since you have no OS, you will need to purchase a copy from the computer store. Put the disk in the drive and boot the computer. As it's booting up press F2 and set to boot from CD. The Windows install shield will put the Windows OS onto your hard disk and install all the drivers for all conected devices, including the web cam.
