Brother HL-4040CN won't read or show new refilled cartridge in the LCD

Please help. My HL-4040CN is only 3 weeks old. Two days ago I refilled my yellow cartridge, it works and the print quality is as good. Today I refilled my magenta cartridge and to my disappointment the LCD don't show or read the magenta refilled cartridge, and the printer won't print.

Thanks for your reply, mine is a laser colored printer and it's a toner cartridge. Yes I have the correct toner cartridge and have cleaned the corona wire and the drum according to the manual. Still not being read by the LCD monitor. Thanks again.

As I stated earlier I refilled the magenta toner cartridge meaning it's the correct cartridge. I cleaned too the corona wires and drums according to the manual and did the re-installing, still LCD won't read the newly refilled magenta toner cartridge. I am still hoping though that someone can give me a solution so I will be able to save a lot through refilling. Thanks for trying.

I have same problem I just installed a new cyan ink cartridge and it still says its empty. I have cleaned everything and tried switching colors but still says cyan empty even if I put another color cartridge in that is full.

I think I know what the problem is...
When you refill these toner cartridges you need to reset the "toner empty" cog wheel.
For instructions on how to do this follw this link:
http://www.proprint.co.uk/brother_hl4040.htm
It has pictures and explains how to reset the cartridge
Good luck,
Billy.

Hold down cancel button and press reprint and reset toner cartridges, Scroll through all colors and reset all. Many time this can be done without refilling toner as much is still left in cartridge.

Q: Brother printer toner refill.?

A: yes and no. it is easy to fill the toner but if it is the original toner which came with the printer, they deliberately leave out a $4 starter gear which is needed to regulate the amount of charge going to the drum. Without this gear, the copies will come out too light and be nearly useless. I threw out two of these printers until I came across Northbay Toner who explained this to me and provided what I needed. I now have two Brother lasers working well on $5 refills. For more info, see http://ccs-digital.com/northbay.html

Obviously, you would want to make sure you have the correct cartridge for your printer model. If you have the correct cartridge, remove the magenta cartridge and make sure that some tape was not left behind on the contacts. Clean the copper contacts and inside the the ink carriage with an alcohol dampened towel. Re-install the cartridge (making sure it is pressed in all the way). Turn the printer off for 30 seconds and turn it back on. If this does not solve the problem, I would try a new ink cartridge, and if that fails I would return the printer.

SOURCE: HL-4040CN don't show or read new refilled magenta cartridge.

If you have removed and reinstalled the magenta cartridge several times, it is very likely the cartridge is defective out of the box. If you have another magenta cartridge, put that one in and see if the problem resolves. I'm betting it will. If that second cartridge does work, then return the defective cartridge to where you purchased it - they should replace it without a hassle.

The colours on our HL-4040CN have gone all strange - when we perform colour calibration the colours go either red or green. All toners are new and the drum has been replaced recently as well. We do a lot...

Hi

We need to isolated the problem on what cause ink cartridge not print in color. When even you installed new cartridges, It is necessary to run the print nozzle to clean the print head. Also, please try to clean the print head manually by removing all the ink cartridges and rub the print head into a white paper with alcohol until ink flows and then return it back and run the print nozzle for 2 times.

Then try to print again.

If it does not help you, please let me know to give you more help.

How do I change the toner cartridge on the hl-4040cn

really easy, open front door - there is little latch in the centre which you need to press, retrieve the tray - lift handle slightly up and then slide out, remove empty cartridge - lift it by the handle, at slight angle towards you, you do not need to change all cartridges at this same, only these which are empty.

reverse the procedure to insert new cartridge.

do not forget to empty or change waste toner!

Can someone please help me i have just printed off 400 prints with my brother hl 4040CN laser printerits brand new and its now saying my cyan toner has ran out this is impossible i am right in the middle...

Your toner usage will depend upon how much of each color toner is used on each page. (To conserve colors when printing in Black and White only, specify monochrome in your printer setup) <div>I had similar problems when printing publicity flyers. The toner cartridges claim to be good for about 2000 prints each, but I was lucky to get 3 or 400 pages when printing blocks of color. The TN115 cartridges hold significantly more toner, and the cartridges that come with the printer are TINY.</div>

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

New toner cartridge but prints way too light

where they refilled or third party cartridges? If so try a name brand. It could be the high voltage board or the laser aperture
could be dirty.
