Are there internal picture controls for the WS-55315?

Hi,

I might need a little more detail to solve this problem - I suspect the problem is an incorrect setting on your cable/satellite receiver (assuming you are using one), but let's start with the TV.

Firstly, switch the TV on and select a channel where you can see the ticker. Then press the "FORMAT" button (above the red REC/CONNECT button) on your Mitsubishi remote control. This will change the screen aspect ratio and the current setting will be displayed on screen. Each time you press the FORMAT button the screen size should change.

The screen aspect ratio settings for your TV are STANDARD, EXPAND, ZOOM, STRETCHED and NARROW. Press the FORMAT button repeatedly until "STANDARD" is displayed on the screen. If the ticker is still cut off, you need to change the aspect ratio setting on your cable/satellite receiver.

Please note: If the TV will only allow you to select STANDARD, this is not a fault. It simply means that the aspect ratio cannot be changed on the TV because it's displaying a picture from an external source, i.e. a cable/satellite receiver.

You should then look for a button on the front of your cable/satellite receiver or the cable/satellite remote control marked "FORMAT" or "ZOOM". When you have located this button, try pressing it repeatedly until the ticker is both fully on the TV screen and the picture covers the entire screen.

If you don't have a FORMAT or ZOOM button for your cable/satellite receiver or you are unable to set the picture size correctly, leave the TV set to STANDARD and then reply to me with the brand and model number of your cable/satellite receiver. I will then be able to assist you with finding the correct picture settings and give instructions on how to set these correctly.

Pls be sure the tv is in 16x9 format(the original tv remote) then check the cable or sat remote to be in the "normal" Cable remotes often press cable then the pound or zoom key..........Sat remotes press sat then the format key

Try a different input or tv to make sure its not the cable box! comcast boxes are not the greatist!

If u are using a cable box there maybe a format button on that as well. So use it in conjunction with your tv format button to get a picture that fits the screen. Make sure no zoom format is selected

If you are using any type of set top box weather it is a cable box or something along those lines, You are out of luck. The formating is controlled in whatever box is connected to tv. So to format the screen size keep this in mind. Cableboxes usually only let you adjust for 1080i and widescreen. But aspect is subjective to how they send the signal to you. Also make sure you hookup a HDTV cable box or I recommend Dish Network to this set because it is easy to operate the formating using the button on bottom left of remote. " * " STAR button is great. ALSO the DVR is larger and you can run the 2nd TV off the same box although it is Standard defination, the 2nd remote is very handy because it talks to the box via RF signals, which means no IR or line of site problems. I'm fairly sure that the 2hdw board is the culprit here. The 2hdw pwb is Mitsubishi original p/n# 935c966001 which has since been substituted to p/n#935c966002 and costs roughly $420.00 dollars plus shipping.
It's a common failure in these units, but it's not a difficult repair for a reputable shop..
Another alternative is to have ashop pull that board and send it in to PTS Electronics for rebuild. That might save about $100.00 dollars.

Most likely a bad formatter board, which plugs in vertically on the signal board.

Normallly, if the format button on the remote does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made. For example: A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen when an analog signal is detected. It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the hook up of the peripherals. Hope this helps.
