Well, I don't think this is an issue with Hardware malfunction of the Printer... However, I suggest you to try few troubleshooting steps before you replace the ink cartidges for Printer.

Hi I have U051, and U052 coming up, I did what it said to do press ok if that doesn't work turn it off, now it is continuously going to these problems. What do I do.

U052 mean the FINE cartridge may not be install properly,or the Cartridge may not be compatible with this machine.Install the appropriate FINE Cartridge. If lines are misaligned or the resulting out put is not satisfactory carry out the FINE Cartridge Alignment.

You can check that it's installed properly, after that all you can do is replace the printhead. They are like a light bulb and burn out when you least expect it. If you printer is less than a year old Canon will replace the printhead, after a year you have to buy a new one. Anywhere from $60.00 to $100.00 The part number is on the side of the printhead, the number starts with QY6, the numbers after that are the actual part number.

You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.
- On: The printer is ready to print.
- Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
- Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
- Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
