The compressor does not always come on, and the lights dim. Do they make a hot start that I can attach to the capacitor for this unit.

Hi,
The compressor is not always starting...sometimes it tries but does not start...
It could be a capacitor and relay problem... or the compressor could be going bad...
Change the capacitor and start relay first and then see if that gets it going...

The humming noise and dimming of the lights is an indication something in the outdoor unit is locked up or has failed.

Check the capacitor as it may have gone bad. If the capacitor is good, then you either have a failed motor, a failed compressor, or both.

Fan runs but compressor won't start. Compressor tries to come on every couple of minutes, dimming lights when it does, then stops. The other unit starts and runs just fine. The problem started just...

You could start by checking the capacitor. Then use an ohmmeter and check the fan windings. Hook one meter lead to com lead. Then hook the other meter lead to the run lead and then the start lead, reading the resistance each time. Then read from each to ground (compressor case). You could also use an ammeter to check the current draw when it starts. Hopefully it's just the capacitor.

My freezer is not working properly with clicking sound.

The clicking sound is probably the compressor relay trying to start the compressor. When the lights dim, the compressor is trying to start and hence, pulling power from the rest of the unit. If the compressor has a start capacitor, that could possibly be the problem. If not, the compressor itself should be replaced.

My window a/c dims the lights on the same curcuit

No major service...not for the AC any way.(Read on) It is normal that lights will dim if on the same circuit with an air conditioner. When the ac is set to cool the compressor will turn on and off as it should. The compressor takes more amperage to start, that is the reason it needs a fairly large capacitor to help it out. Once it's started your lights return back to normal brightness right? Where you might have major service though is if and when you call a certified electrician to run wire for a new outlet for your ac which should always be on a circuit of it's own, but for a better reason than lights dimming...the safety of you and your family.

If everything works on the roof top unit; all the power is on and the lights dim when the compressor kicks in, so do you think it needs to be rechaged?

Probably not. Does it trip right away or after it runs a while? Check all your wiring connections at the unit including under the compressor terminal cap. Make sure your fan spins free & is lubricated. The condenser on the roof top could be dirty. A capacitor on the compressor could be weak or failing. It is possible there is a refrigerant leak that caused the compressor to run hot and start to draw high current as a result though.

My air con is not sending out any hot air.

chances are your compressor is locked up and drawing high amps (dimming lights) then the internal overloads inside the motor windings are opening. you should probably hear the compressor hum for a second then stop. Also if you were to touch it, it would be extremely hot. If this is what seems to be the problem, you need a new compressor or replace the whole unit.

Home unit 3 ton won't run

The small capacitor is for the fan motor the other for thecompresor .You can try conecting a booster (or hot start) in paralel to the comp.capacitor .If this doesnt work you have to replace the compresor.

PDS22SBSALSS Clicking Noise/ Temperature Control Panel

Your start relay and condenser are defective, it would appear. They are there to 'kick' the compressor into starting. They should then click off and reduce the power sent to the compressor. When they don't, you get the dimming lights. See your local library for any service information they may have on the shelf. Your issue should not be model specific. About the control panel, cycle the connectors. You may catch the problem.
