Is the brush turning?

If not, replace the belt, check the brush roll make sure the ends turn freely. Other wise, are the filters clean? The hose and/or the dirt inlet by the brush roll may be clogged.

Model 16n5 has no suction

check the passages for obstructions. (coat hanger works nicely). if the motor is running, you should have suction. if you don't, something is blocking air flow.

Beater bar stopped after sucking up shoe lace

Hi choward40,

Yah, vacuums don't particularly care for shoelaces! :>)

Did you get the shoelace taken out of the beater brush?
Did the shoelace go all the way into the machine?

Please reply back. Thanks,

My brusg stopped turning after sucking up a shoe

Hi There is a reset switch on your Dyson that needs to be pressed when something gets stuck in the brushes. The reset switch helps protect the motor that spins the brush from damaging if something gets stuck inside the brushes. There is a little red pole that sits up behind the brushes on the vacuum head, I believe it's on the left side of the floor head as if you were behind the machine vacuuming. Try pushing this reset switch first. Did this fix your problem? If no, please let me know and I'll be more then happy to do some more advanced diagnosing with you.

My bissell 3120-3 is not sucking up dirt

if the vacuum is not sucking up dirt first check the hose to see if there is suction if you dont have suction there you need to follow the hose to the nearest connection remove the hose from there using screwdriver or some models will twist off check to see if there are any blockages, make sure the bag is not full if so replace bag with new one if needed, if bagless or if that dosent resolve the problem remove the cover plate for the roller, remove the roller and check the suction port that routes the dirt and debris to the dirt cup or the bag. you will just need to check all of the different routes to the bag or dirt cup, the best thing to have is a blower and you can blow through the different passways untill the clog is blown out, thanks I am sure that this info will help everyone if in alb visit the Vacuum Doctor, Don the doctor is always in!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Hoover self propelled WindTunnel sound like an air craft getting ready to take off and lost a lot of sucking powers. I had it serviced at a local store. It wasn't right when go it back. All belts and filters where changed.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Even though the belts and filters have been changed it sounds to me that you may have broken a fan and when that happens it sounds like a air craft and it is very loud. You don’t want to continue to use it that way, a fan would cost between approx $10.00 to $20.00 plus labor to install B4 it does anymore damage otherwise the vacuum should be just fine if you just had it serviced. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Not knowing the brand name and model # of which we like to know so I can direct you in the right way, the 3 things that you need to do is to change the belt every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning, check the brushroll and the bearing ends, some have the bearing holder of NEW or OLD and both should be the same if the bristles are long enough to hit the carpet, if not you may have adjustment screws, also to change the vacuum bag or to clean the filter if it is a HEPA filter, and one more thing check for a vacuum clog. For the next question, please include the brand name and model # with your question. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Not sucking up

Hi, I have a Dyson DC05 and initially it sucks up ok then stops. On investigation the dust particles are ending up in the pre-motor filter instead of the canister.
I have checked for blockages, and cleaned filters. Any ideas????

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Something is blocking the path of the dirt to the canister and it should not be going directly to the motor filter (diverter valve) that is supposed to be a backup just in case. So that the motor does not burn up, please check with you local vacuum cleaner dealer for a schematic or a product breakdown.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Beckyanneok,

See my post with the same problem (described in painful detail) at:

I've no idea why this should happen all of a sudden. But it has. And so far nobody is suggesting anything.
