Sony Cybershot DSC W50

Hi my lens is out on the camera and even after charging the lens will not retract. I get an error message.... access, try camera on and off and then the same thing repeats... Any suggestions.

Thank you for any help you could give.

My camera has exactly the same problem - lens out, display says "switch camer off and on again" which I did but it still doesn't work. Twice a message reading "E: 61:00" has been displayed. Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it. Thanks

I am experiencing the same concern. The lens on my DSC-W50 won't retract. After pushing the power button, I continually get the message on the LCD to " Turn the power on and off again ". I can still view photos and movie files from the camera, but it is not able to complete functions in either movie or photo modes.

The same thing has happened to me. Except the batteries died with the lens out, and now it's not letting me turn it on at all! It stays on for maybe, 3 seconds, then shuts off.

I'm trying to figure out what to do.
If you figure this out, please email me at katiekins259@aim.com

Thanks for listening!

When I turn on my Cybershot DCS-W50, the lens cycles in and out a few times and then the message "Access" appears on the view screen. The battery is fully charged and I am able to view pictures...

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Sony cybershot DSC-W50 lens problen

thats normal.
it just doesn't have enough power to bring the lense back in.
once you charge your battery and turn it on the lense will automatically come back in and then out for you to take a picture.

This is what sony cameras do when the lens has become jammed. There are multiple different reasons that the lens can jam but the result is the camera being unable to move it as expected and presenting that error message. Sometimes the lens can be manipulated gently (if extended at all) and freed from the jammed state. Failing this, disassembly is required. Check with your manufacturer for warranty service status and recalls. If they will not cover it you can find a repair provider online. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
