Canon PowerShot G6 Stopped Working

Just stopped working. I have tried 2 different batteries, different memory cards, just won't turn on. Is there an internal battery or something? I got a quote from Canon about $150. For that I might as well replace it.

There is an internal secondary battery holder located inside the main power battery compartment.  It is indeed a 3.0v battery.  However, it is likely to be used in storing ram data while the main battery is removed for charging.  I don't think that having a dead back-up battery would prevent the unit from operating when the main battery is installed with a full charge.  It is likely that a door interlock switch is not being actuated or making complete contact.  There are two door interlock switches in the camera.  The other possibility would be internal to the camera on the PCB somewhere.

No, there is not an internal battery in canon g6 for operating it.
probably the battery does not touch the internal connectors of the camera.

I have the same problem, but there is a internal battery. It is next to the other battery. It is a 2016 3.0v battery next to the hinge.

I am getting an message "memory card error" on a Canon G6 on 2 different cards

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

removed and reinsert the batteries with the card fitted but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Canon G9 will not turn on, put new battery in, still doesn't work

Your camera has a short, this happens on the G9 models from some screws that come loose and create a short in the camera. That memory card error is a false code that sometimes shows from the short. If you go to: camerasandparts.com they specialize in service for the Canon Powershot cameras. They have the no power fix for this right on their website and it's not much at all to have repaired. They are totally amazing if you need servicing for a powershot, that's all they deal with. They also include a fix in the camera so the power problem / short never happens again. I hope that helps, that's the greatest place if you need help with a Powershot problem.

Camera reading memory card error, cannot get it to work. Tried removeing the card and replacing batteries. Checked and it is not locked.

try formatting the card once on a pc and then plug it in your camera....if that does not help either, you'll have to try a different card.

Canon Powershot A550 flash will not work it just blinks on & off?

Hi
There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD750 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

Canon Powershot A610 won't power-up

My camera stopped working some time later after being dropped.
If you are brave (or desperate), try this... I found it was not too difficult to open the camera up. Take all the screws from the bottom, sides and under the card and usb, and inside the battery compartment. They are all different lengths so keep some record of what goes where. Then I made sure the multiway connector underneath the top was firmly in place. That was all I could see that I could fix myself. And what luck! when I put it back together it worked.

Memory card error

Try a smaller memory card size . I was trying to install a 4gb card and the guy at Kmart told me to try a 1gb card and that fixed the locked card error . No where in the instruction book did it address this problem.
