To reset these routers you will find a small (paper clip) size hole with a red button in it on the back beside the power adapter input. Press this button for at least 30 seconds while the router is on. Then unplug it. press and hold the button, then plug it back in while holding the button depressed, and keep it depressed for another 30 seconds. then power cycle it again. that should do it.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Pppoe password on wrt54g2

You can contact your Internet service provider for your PPPoE password.
The PPPoE password is generated and given by Internet service provider only. If you are using PPPoE connection then your Internet service provider should have password. Or they can reset and give you a new one.

Want to modify my settings

Documentation is at
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54G2
But this page is way more helpful
http://www.pcwintech.com/wireless-setup-linksys-wrt54g2-linksys-firmware

From a browser enter 192.168.1.1
This should give you the web interface to your router.
Your interface should look something like this:
http://ui.linksys.com/files/WRT54G2/1.5.00/

To login leave user id blank and use 'admin' as a password (default)

Note that this model has at least 3 different variants and particulars will vary:

WRT54G2 wired desktop fine, can't connect to wireless.

Hi Seth6025,

Try without using Wireless Encryption (password).

Try changing channels; default is 6; try 1 or 11.
Change your SSID: personalize it
SSID broadcast: Enable

Check the advanced wireless settings and make sure MAC filtering - DISABLED.

Reset the Linksys router by pressing RESET for 30 seconds should everything fails and re-configure. Firmware is another consideration BUT this is just a new release.

Regards,

Angel

MY LINKSYS WRT54G2 IS OK BUT CAN'T FIND SERVER.

The Linksys WRT54G2 is Cable/DSL router with 4 port switch. It has many features including a built-in DHCP server. By default, it's IP address is 192.168.1.1, username: blank and password: admin.

Plug in the Modem to the Linksys router's Internet / WAN port then plug your PC's to any of the 4 ports (1,2,3 & 4). The Linksys router once turned ON will automatically provide your PC with IP address starting with 192.168.1.xx (x means number from 100-149).

Make sure that known working ethernet cables are being used. Check your computer's IP adress by going to the command prompt. Start>RUN>type CMD then press Enter. Type IPCONFIG and check the IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.100). Check you PC's network adapter if you don't get an IP address from the Linksys router.

You may opt to reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back for 30 seconds if it fails to give out DHCP.

Cheers!

Angel
