Panasonic Lumix USB connection not working. - No error messages are coming up - Just nothing happens, it's as though the computer can't detect the USB - It's not a prob with the PC, cos my iPod USB connects fine - I've had this camera for 2 years and it's never done this before.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have a Lumix DMC-F3. There are pictures on the internal memory i am trying to upload to my computer. The USB cable is connected, the camera turns on (in play mode) and nothing happens. The manual says...

Go to "My Computer" and locate the camera's drive - it should be detected and show the camera as a device connected to the computer - if it's not then check the "Device Manager" to determine if the driver has been installed. If the driver is not installed, re-install it by loading the disc that came with the camera. You can also reboot the computer while the camera is connected and powered to automatically install the driver.

Connection of a Panasonic Lumix DMC FS5 camera to PC

To easily isolate if there's a problem with your computer, try to connec the camera to a different computer and verify if it has the same problem. If it works fine, there's something in your computer that blocks your camera. it could be the USB port or some malwares. Try to scan your using your antiviurs. It is necessary to update your antivirus regularly.

Connection to PC no longer working

Sorry for the delay. The hotel wireless connection took a dive. If the camera works OK and it is just a message then go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus Controllers>USB Enhanced Host Controller>right click to select properties>Advanced and then check the box that says "Do not tell me about usb errors". That will stop the error messages which only mean that the camera is drawing slightly more than 500mA which is a USB 2.0 feature that you can disable to revert to USB 1.1 but not necessary if the camera works. Each of the Host Controllers has a check box like that. The USB Root Hubs below that have similar checkboxes to Reset if you ever get a message that the Root Hub needs to be reset just for your own info. This is a common annoyance and is probably more due to the USB cable quality than the camera actually drawing more power. Feel free to repost if you have any other concerns. Steve Medley

PC does not recognize Lumix DMC-TZ5 as USB device

I contacted Panasonic and here is what they told me to do and it worked.

"No additional drivers are needed as it runs off the USB drivers imbedded in
your Windows OS. That being said though, it is not that the USB ports on the
front of your computer are faulty, just that they are in fact a HUB and not
the port which is located on the back of the PC. Windows does not
traditionally like reading external Hard drives (your camera becomes one when
PC connect mode is selected) through a HUB. In this case I would still
strongly recommend connecting to the back of the PC."
