What kind of projector are you using? what color are the ends of the cable you are connecting your projector to the laptop with? if your using the Blue ends, be sure your projector is on, and is running on the VGA input. Most projectors do not auto detect input and must be set manually prior to the FN + F5 key combination. White connector ends are called DVI or Digital input on the projector.
