Hello to fello seamstress; from repair tech. I've done this to mine. it takes a bit of time -- no big deal.

You are not getting elec TO the unit.

A cheap - safe way to check it is to go to the AUTO repair store and ask for a Cheap continuity tester -- sounds fancy; less than ten bucks, generally. IF you want to go a little fancier, go to Radio Shack and ask for one. Prob under 20. Again; they will tell you how to use it.

I bet You have a wire that has bent/wiggled/worn-against something and is NOT sending elec to the full circuit.

Ask store for directions on HOW to use unit...then, use it to ck line , (when mach is unplugged) little by little follow wire from plug where you put into wall receptacle. I would trace down to foot peddle first as that is my first bet.

(Also p/u a roll of elect tape if you don't have any at home)

Little by little, go around the mach ckg the wire. When you find the broken-rubbed area, cut away worn junk and wrap wire with the elec tape. You almost can't put too much on -- you can put on too little and SHORT out the machine.

Another hint, while you're working on the foot peddle, clean the elec contacts of the foot peddle when you have it apart. Older ones can take fine sand paper, newer ones might need spray elec cleaner from Radio shack (handy on printer, too!)-- or rubbing alcohol on q-tip...just a little.. Be sure it dries well before you do next step of anything.

What would cause my Kenmore sewing machine's light to turn on but the motor seem to have no power?

The wiring for the older Kenmore is simple. The light switch completes the connection to the light. If the foot pedal has failed or connection loose where the wire attaches from the foot-pedal the motor will not run.

Also if the brushes in the motor are worn or failing to contact the motor internally the motor will not run.

With light on and pedal partially depressed attempt to activate motor to determine if brush connection are faulty. If the motor reacts at all the brushes will likely need to be replaced.

No success borrow a foot pedal from a friend or sewing center to determine if the pedal control is faulty.

Hope this helps?

Foot lock does not lock so machine won't turn on

unplug the machine & look at the foot pedal. any dust, etc around the edges can keep the switch from making. open the foot pedal (probably has 4 screws) find the little switch, it probably just needs to be cleaned. if it still wont work search for a new one using the numbers on the side of the switch.

Presser foot stopped working I turned

Did you connect your machine then press the foot control before you lowered you presser foot? I have a CS6000 and that is what E1 means on my machine. You did not put your model number in so I don't know. You can look in your manual or go online to and look it up for your machine. Try unplugging and plugging it in again, but put your presser foot down then step on your foot pedal.

I have a Bernina Nova sewing machine, and am unable to get the foot pedal to work. The light turns on, and it works by manually turning the knob. Is it the foot pedal that is at fault? Or have i missed a...

Some Bernina models have a three application switch.

Light, light and power pedal and just the power pedal.

Inside the machine, at the back of the tower is a circuit board. It could be the contact or wire is broken.
