Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

Acer Laptop won't boot

Windows Vista opens, says "Updating not not turn off...." then it shuts down and restarts, does the same over and over.
Tird F10 safe mode, same result

    Could not allow the update to complete. The computer shuts off by itself, then re-starts, then shuts off etc etc.until battery runs down
    Used F-8 and restored
    Turned off auto update

Just allow the updating to complete. Normally it does that as many times as the number of updates installed.

As of now there is no problem with your OS yet but if you will keep avoiding the updates to complete, it might be corrupted.

Laptop will not restart after windows updating

That is a known problem with Windows Vista.
A reinstall will fix it.

Acer laptop keep restarting it self every 7 seconds once I push power button and I cant even turn it off to get it to stop.

To get it to stop and see if it is displaying some type of error message try this. Turn the laptop off, then hit the power button to turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Mode options. Scroll down and you will see a option that says Disable Automatic Restart and select it. Let it boot to see if there is an error message that displays.

Surely you have a missing or corrupt boot or system file. Try running the check disk utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

I have an acer aspire one netbook laptop and when I turn it on the logo comes up and then nothing after that what could it be and what can I do to try and fix it?

  • Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop by opening your Start menu and selecting "Shut Down" from the options for shutting down and restarting windows.Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printerPress the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt + F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window.Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration.Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop.Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

    I have an Acer Aspire 6530 running Windows Vista and today it started shutting off at random. When it shuts off the bottom 2/3 of the screen has blue stripes across it, and on the blue is text I cannot...

    Good question.

    Does the computer feel hot when it shuts off?

    Does it always happen at the same exact time?

    Can you try booting the computer into Safe Mode? (What Happens?)

    First thing I'd try is uninstalling the video adapter driver under device manager and restart the computer.

    Let me know what happens!

    Acer laptop wont start up.

    You have corrupted files on your system, either from a hard drive beginning to go bad or from just a bad update, use your recovery console, either available during start up or by using the windows cd to boot your computer and have it run a recovery, you will have to re-apply some of your service packs afterwards. Another option in the recovery console is to use your system save points, if you have the recovery console installed then use it to restore your compter to a day before the update.

    My Extenza 5420 won't complete updating and start up.

    boot from the windows cd. select repair option. it will ask u" which windows u want to repair?". press 1. then in command prompt press the following commands.
    c:/> fix MBR
    c:/> fix BOOT
    ignore the warnings u get in between when u enter the above commands

    Acer aspire 5920 laptop is not shutting down.

    Try to shut down it trough it frm shortcuts keys given on laptop or you can even re-install windows (if u hav no important data in tht laptop).
