It is always advisable to use the power cord that comes with the device. Ebay is the best place to find replacement products.

Lost my power cord is there a universal power cord I can buy or do I have to order a new one?

Check out BestBuy or RadioShack if they have one, but i doubt it, usually it always included on the equipment. If your leasing the equipment from your service provider might as well ask them to replace it.

There is no power to my router. how do i know if i need a new power cord or if it is defective unit. 2wire 1800HG older model

You can measure the power cord voltage with a voltmeter. The specifications, and voltage output are on the transformer, or modem body. If you don't have a voltmeter, you can take the power supply into Best Buy, Radio Shack, or any computer shop, and they'll measure it for you. If the voltage is ok on the power supply, chances are you have a bad modem, in which case you'd be better off getting a new one. Hope this helps.

I have a sony laptop and i'm trying to use get online with my wireless internet using the 2wire router. however, my wlan "on" button on my laptop isn't lit & i wanted to know how to troubleshoot this...

sometimes it will do that take out the power cord to your router and your modem if you have one and let it sit for 30 seconds with power off then plug back in. if not you might be thinking of buying a ethernet cord for it.

2wire 1800HG router keeps resetting

1) Check power cord. 2wire has known issues with power cords being defective. If you have a Multimeter, I would check to ensure the correct voltage and amperage and being delivered to the router first.

2) Need to resolve the "resetting problem" first. Then attack the port forwarding issue.

2wire modem power light red

Its Due to AC adapter capacitors. Capators dry out after certain usage that cause unfiltered output of DC. Add about 2 or 3 pieces of 1000uF capacitor on DC way issue will be resolved. Or simple change the capacitors in AC adapter or change the AC adapter to new one.

2Wire Router will not power up.

If it is not getting any power at all,
only one of three things:
cord is fried/dead;
could be the outlet,
try something else in the same socket; or, the board in the ROUTER is dead.
Disconnect power cable WAIT FOR 20 sec and then reconnect it..Reset your router, ..To reset the router, the best way is to press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, or to press the reset button for 60 seconds..and for first 20 sec hold the reset with the power cable connected and for the next 20 sec with out releasing the reset button disconnect the power cable and continue holding the restet button , and after 20 sec reconnect power back and then continue holding the reset for another 20 sec.. and then ncheck for the lights status ..

Try another power cord. Take it back to the store and have them exchange it or test it. They'll do that for free.
