Cannon Elura 70

When I turn my camera on it does not show what I am pointing the camera. The power is on, lense cover is removed and is set in the camera mode.

Same issue. Prior to this I had the zooming-in issue you can find people complaining of on this site. More complaints to Canon increases the chances they'll do an out-of-warranty repair for us, so please contact them with your complaints!

I have one of these too and unfortunately they have many bugs. Every time I have a problem with my camera I just have to bang on it a little bit or wait out the problem. I have read too many forum entries with people saying they have sent it back and not received proper help. I just wanted you to know you're not the only one out there! Good luck.

When I try to take video, my Elura 70 shows only a black LCD screen and viewfinder. I do see all the camera functions on the screen but no image. I can record and playback a black screen with proper sound....

This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

How do you get videos from a cannon elura 85 onto iMovie?

Use wall power, not battery power. Set camera to Play (not PC Connect)

Open iMovie, wait a minute or so for import screen. If it does not come up, click the camcorder button.

Windows Vista doesn't recognize camera

well, first, u should check what format of the video file from your cannon. In my opinion, it may be mod format, and vista and lots of players will not support mod. u should try to convert mod to some regular format .

Camcorder continues to show"REMOVE CASSETTE" notice

You are not alone. This is a known service problem for this series of cameras. Cannon has a service notice on its website. Look here:

My cannon elura 70 got wet and now it will not power up or eject the tape even after it appears dry. Anything simple I can do before I bring it in to have it checked out?

Since the post date appears to be 7/16/2009, I would open it in a dry place and blow dry air over it to ensure it is completely dry. If the camera was very clean before it got soaked, it may recover. If it was dusty or had been in "bad" environment, the water might have carried crud into the camera mechanizm or into the electronics.

Try to dry and then report back!

Your Canon Elura 70

Thanks Benimur. The first posted solution worked like a charm. I banged the bottom of the camera hard on a book 3 times (what did I have to loose?) and not only did it begin recording properly, but the things I recorded on the faulty setting played fine as well. Weird stuff, really............

THESE CAMERAS ARE PEICES OF ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest that no body buys from cannon again!!
I am suppose to record my sister-in laws wedding and BOTH of my ELURA 100's are displaying the EJACT TAPE message!

"TEMP. FIX"
This takes pateince however for me it works....When you get the EJECT TAPE mesage....eject the battery with the power on (thus the power will go off by means of the battery not being in camera) then slap the battery back in....and KEEP doing this untill eventually the camera will NOT DISPLAY the message and actual work.

It may take up to 20 trys ....slap it in..slap it out...slap it in slap it out...BUt for me it works.

If it appears to work but as you hit the RECORD button it beeps and displays the EJECT tape message again...Go back and eject the battery again and repeat the STEPS...but dont worry , that means your getting closer to it working.. LOL

P.s- I hate CANON
