I don't see the previous post. Why do you need to replace your memory and mother board? How old is the emachine? Some of the P1 and PII systems had mother boards riveted in. If it is older than a P4 it would be best to replace the computer.

My emachine boots, runs for a while then freezes

The beeps are possibly post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off. WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in. Open computer and reseat memory Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer. Swap memory location If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol (Methylated Spirits) on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory. Try another computers memory Test all power and data leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive IDE SATA make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty If its a flat 40 pin ide it will be the first to fail. Check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it Restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy drive have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty Computers need all Power and Data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error also check the keyboard for secure dust free connection ps2 and or usb

EMachines T3304 won't work with 2GB memory

might not be a working pair

are the memory modules of the same brand and type
IE: hynex ddr3 low density

if you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

hope it helps

I don't know your specific model, but some of the Emachines had some memory directly on the motherboard. With the 1Gb and 512Mb sticks installed, boot the machine and report how much memory the system sees. Perhaps the onboard memory is causing you to exceed the 2Gb limit.

Please post the memory size you get here with the above sticks.

Almost always indicative of a RAM memory problem. Troubleshoot by removing 1 stick of memory and rebooting. Switch sticks to determine if either stick of memory is bad or a bad bank on the motherboard.

This could be a number of issues.

Here are a few things you can try.

1. take the battery off the back then plug the ac adapter in and see if the system turns on.

2. If that still doesn't work unplug the ac adapter (make sure system is turned off), make sure you are grounded (not on carpet) and unscrew the memory panel on the bottom of the laptop and remove a ram module. Most laptops have two sticks of ram. try alternating between the two sticks and the two channels. Sometimes a bad stick of ram or a bad memory channel can cause this behavior.

3. If the system still doesn't post then you can take the hard drive out and see if it will come on then. Again, sometimes a bad piece of hardware will keep a system from posting.

4. Check all other removal hardware I.E. wireless card (usually located near the memory)

5. If the system still doesn't post then chances are you with have a bad dc jack or the motherboard has failed. Typically motherboard's are too expensive to replace and dc jack repairs require you to take the laptop completely apart and do quit a bit of soldering. If none of the other steps work I would suggest simply replacing this laptop.

Hope this helps.

Windows xp sp3 maximum amount of memory

HI,
Of course it can be done, your computer can take up to 2BG of ram (memory) and the slots are located inside the computer tower like this >>>>>
c3aec59.jpeg

Your motherboard will have 2 slots like in the picture and will take 2 x 1BG (1GB in each slot), just make sure you buy the correct speed and type memory so it's a good idea to take your memory with you when you buy is so there is no mistakes.

Good luck

Memory upgrade problem

Try each stick one at a time in each slot and if one doesnt work, then thats the bad stick.

Is it dual channel?

How many slots total do you have?

My Emachines_w2888 will not boot up. I get a, (NO SIGNAL INPUT).

If all you have done is upgrade the memory, take out one stick of memory and see if the computer will start up. If it acts the same way it has been acting, take out the other stick of memory and put the first stick of memory back in. You could have a bad stick of memory. Does the computer make any beeping noises when you try to start it? Those beeps are the BIOS way of telling you there is a problem. One BIOS beep means the system is starting if you have more than one beep, there could be a problem, the number of beeps along with the brand of BIOS will give you a clue as to what the problem is. Once you know the number of beeps and the brand of BIOS you can search the Internet for what the problem might be. Your monitor showing "NO SIGNAL INPUT" is its way of saying "I'm ok but something else is wrong".

Good luck

Emachines 1900+ gets power to the monitor and computer but wont boot

Buy a dianostics card, and find out if its the RAM, CPU, OR Motherboard. (sounds like a ram or CPU problem though) if you have more than one stick of ram in the system, take one out, and power it up, if still not response, to the other stick out, and put the stick you took out the first time, and put it back in.
