You have two SATA connectors but only need one SATA hard Drive. It has two because Gigabyte has a optional RAID setup. Some have 6, it depends on the nodel.
Alright, i looked it up online.
First, It has Dual Channel DDR which means you have to have two sticks of memory the same amount of memory on each stick, or just one. Whichever, you cant mix up different speeds or different size memory stix.
You need to have a SATA Hard Drive not IDE as this model appears to be SATA only. The IDE is meant for the CD Drive.
Is that your Board? Or close? the link is to the website.
Did you get this new? how old is it? This board is meant for setting up a raid system so if its not what you intended, get a smaller or less expensive board. Take it back and say it didnt fit your case just didnt meet your specs that you thought.

Here's a link to where you can get the manual free and it will show you the jumper options and all. Hope this helps.

Your post doesn't list the specific motherboard being used however, if this is an option, and it might be, it is an option set in the Bios. The SATA drive is a faster drive and would be a better choice as Primary drive however, if there was an option in the BIOS for selecting which would be primary and which would be slave it would be in your BIOS options.
