When I turn TI-84 on, I get the number 2 and nothing else works. I have tried replacing both batteries, but still not working. Any ideas?

Remove all four batteries. Press and hold the ON button for ten seconds. Replace the batteries. Does the calculator turn on and function normally now?

Having gone over a month without a response, I assume my suggested reset solved the problem.

TI-84 Plus will not turn on. Batteries have been replaced.

Try taking out the backup battery. It is located in the battery compartment, behind a little door that you must take off with a phillips screwdriver. Leave it out for about 10 hours. If this doesn't work, try replacing the backup battery.

Hope this helps.

If Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Calculator hangs on screen "RAM CLEARED" , what should I do?

You should try a few different things:

1) Press the Clear button
2) Press the On Button
3) Remove and replace the batteries

If the final step does not work, you should also remove the backup battery. This is located UNDER the AA batteries. You will need a small screwdriver to remove the cover. Replace everything and turn the calculator back on.

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If that doesn't work, add a comment to this post and we'll go from there.

Ti-84 problem!

Could be that your calculator needs to be reset. Take out the internal battery that is located in a tiny door with a screw right above the 4 AAA batteries. Leave this out for about 8 hours and put it back in. Put in the AAA batteries and the calculator will be reset and may work.

Won't work at all

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on at all.
