some watches have a notch that comes out where you can get a knife, or exacto blade underneath to pop it open. if not, there may be multiple intends along the ridge that would require a special tool to twist open. any jewler could change the battery for you. also, batteries plus stores can change the battery out at a reasonable price.

Where i can replace the battery of my Casio watch,.Casio hunting timer AMW 705

The battery of my Casio 1846 W-71 was dead, so I tried to replace the battery by myself.

First, you need to get a hand on a CR2016 3-volts battery. It could cost you 5$ or 10$, but I got 5 of them for 1.50$ at an electronics discount store...

Get a precision screwdriver, remove the 4 screws. Be careful when you remove the cover, there's a tiny spring. Remember where it is, then remove it. Remove the watch from the shell.

Using a flat mini screwdriver, remove the cover that holds the battery. You'll need to unclip all 4 corners. There are centers to unclip too, not sure if there was 2 or 4 of them.

Remove the battery, place the new one. Clip the battery cover back, and put the watch back in the shell.

I closed the cover. The watch was showing time, buttons were working, but no sound at all. Looked on the Internet, and read that you need to short circuit it.

Look carefully, there is a label "AC" near a small hole. (Inside the hole you'll see the gray spike of a welding). Just touch something metal inside the hole (e.g. the welding spike) and then touch the positive (top) side of the battery. Put the cover back in place, press a button and listen for the beep.

Screw the cover back in place.

I have an 1877 Rockford pocket watch. I can open the face and the back cover, but can't figure out how to get to the "works". There is a pushin flat lever just below the stem (when the back...

The "pin" you're describing sounds like the pin-set lever, which would be used to set the time. Pushing in the pin while turning the winding crown will move the hands forwards or backwards, depending on the direction in which you're turning the crown.
If you are trying to see the rear of the watch movement--i.e., where the balance wheel is ticking--and you can't see anything after removing or opening the back cover, you probably have a watch case with two back covers. This is not uncommon--the first cover might have engraving or a photo inside it; the second cover would serve as a dust shield. While the rear cover may screw off or be hinged, the inner cover is almost always hinged. Look for a tiny divot or imperfection in the dust cover where it does not seem to cleanly meet the rest of the case. Insert a case opening knife (or just a dull pocket knife blade) into that opening and *gently* twist. Do not get too aggressive here or you could deeply scratch the watch case and/or skitter across the face of the watch movement, significantly reducing the value of your pocket watch.
The dust cover should pop open with only a small amount of pressure. Swing it back, and admire the view of your pocket watch movement.
If none of this matches what you're seeing on your watch, follow up with any identifying language about the type of watch case that you have. Typically, the manufacturer will stamp some info inside the outer-most back cover of the watch. Note that the case maker is probably not Rockford; movements and cases were often sold separately and mated together at a jewelry store. That way, people could put a good movement in a cheap case, or a cheap movement in an expensive gold case.

I have a columbia watch cl 7204. does the back pry off or rotate?

mcdevito75 here, Basically there are 3 ways to remove the watch back, If there are 4 screws holding the back onto the caseing you"ll need jewelers screwdrivers to reove the screws and cover, if there are square holes going around the edge of the back cover you"ll need a special tool called a case back remover tool available on ebay to un-screw the back cover, or the cover simply prys off. Look for a tiny tab on the back cover you may need a magnifier glass available at most Dollar stores or there may be a **** between the back cover and case of the watch to pry off the back cover, use a sharp knife and carefully twist the knife oncwe you find this tab or ****.

How iI open a casio 705 woman watch?

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
You will need:
  • A jeweler's screwdriver- Either flat head or Philips, depending on the model of watch.
A cup or small box-This is to hold any screws.
  • How to change a Casio watch battery:
    1. Spread a cloth over your work area The cloth will help you avoid damaging the finish on your watch.
    2. If necessary, remove the watch band Removing the band gives you easier access to the back plate.
    3. Remove the back plate For some models this means using a screwdriver to gently pry it open, and others require removing screws. Keep small screws in a container to avoid losing them!
    4. Take note of the rubber seal Sometimes they need to be reinstalled in the same orientation. You might even want to use a marker to make a small "match mark" before removing it.
    5. Locate the battery It looks like a small metal button.
    6. Remove the battery You might need to loosen (not remove) a small screw and slide a latch out of the way. For other models, it's as simple as popping open a strap that is stretched across the cell.
    7. Install the new battery Make sure it's in the same orientation as the old one. They usually go in with the positive (+) side down.
    8. Perform a reset Do this by touching one tip of the tweezers to the AC contact, inside the watch, and the other tip to the back of the watch battery.
    9. Make sure the watch is working properly Carefully lift the watch to do this. Don't turn it over or the watch movement might fall out.
    10. Reassemble and seal the watch Perform steps one through four in reverse order to reassemble your watch.
    Best regards. Jewel

I cant seem to get the back of the watch off. How do i change the battery in my Columbia watch.

    Remove the back cover.

On some watches, the cover will pry off using a very small flat-bladed screwdriver or will have screws holding the cover on. On other brands the entire cover will unscrew. Examine the edge of the back cover. If there is one small depression along the edge of the cover then the cover will pry off. If there are screws present, the cover will lift off after the screws are removed. If the cover has a raised edge with flat edges opposite one another then the cover will unscrew.

POD watch battery replacement. No problem removing back of the watch - (waterproof / 4 small screws), however the battery is held in place under a ''cage'' type of cover and not the usual single spring...

Unscrew the screws holding that contact. Memorize where each screw was - they can be different in length. Fit new battery, put contact back in place and screw all screws back exactly where they were. After that you may need to shortcut battery's+ and AC point (marked on movement) for resetting your watch. Use tweezers to do that. Rate me, plz.

Try removing the rubber washer or the black band on the cover then try snapping it back on. I removed the washer and placed it on the back of the watch before I placed the cover on and it just snapped back on.

I had the same problem. The thing that was most frustrating is that I have a standard tool to remove and install screw in watch backs, but Timex in its infintie wisdom, decided to make this model withta snap-in back.

I tired usinga a set of adjustable locking pliers with rubber claw covers. I tried holding one side with finger and thumb while using the pliers on the other to no avail.

robatbath's answer about jewelers having a special press led me to a solution. I just happened to have (2) 1.25" steel washers with 1/4 inch holes. I placed one on the face and one on the back. This way I could use the locking pliers (with rubber covers on) to press in the center of each side. The back snapped in fine. You can get washers and pliers at any hardware store.
