Question about International Thermocast Corp Thermocast Breckenridge 33 In. x 22 In. x 9 In. Gloss Black Cast Acrylic Ki

1 Answer

The "glossy" finish is completely gone in my kitchen sink. It is very ugly and there are also scratches. I have had the sink for 7 years, but it started wearing and scratching early on, with gentle use. Is there any way to replenish the shine of the sink bottom?

If it is a metal sink, it is possible to polish out some scratches. If it is a porcelain sink, all bets are off.

A Master Collection designer Thermocast cast acrylic double bowl kitchen sink with a rich high gloss finish that is easy to clean with non-abrasive cleaners.

  1. 1

Put on rubber gloves. Spray the sink with a nonabrasive commercial kitchen cleaner, covering all surfaces of the sink with the spray.

  2. 2

Dampen a sponge in warm water. Wipe the sponge over the sink, scrubbing at any visible dirt.

  3. 3

Rinse the sink with warm water and then dry it with a clean towel.

  4. 4

Fill the sink with warm water and add 1 tsp. of chlorine bleach per gallon of water, once a month. This will sanitize the sink, and is recommended by Thermocast. Let the bleach-water mixture remain in the sink for 15 minutes, then drain the sink. Rinse.

  5. 5

Apply liquid automotive polish to a clean, soft cloth. Wipe the cloth over the sink to remove any scratches that may have occurred. Buff the sink using a circular motion. Rinse.

Abrasive cleaners may scratch Thermocast sink surfaces--using abrasive cleaners may also void the warranty.

How do i clean it it has white water stains and we have soft water and i can not find my manual. about 3 years old double kitchen sink black from home depot

Question...is this a black enamel coating on the sink? If so, be careful not to use abrasive cleaners on the sink or it will scratch the finish. Hard scrubbing will do the same if the cloth/sponge that you are using is somewhat abrasive. I have used "Lime away" or "CLR" and both have worked fine for me. You can get these solutions at Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Lowes. Note that this will continue to stain unless you resolve your water issue. This may be done by getting a "Home water filtration" device installed. This can be pricey though. Good luck.

My white double thermocast sink from home depot is only about 4 yrs old and looks 60. every kind of metal leaves black scratches that i can no longer remove with baking soda. I feel very ripped off.

If this is the white porcelain finish, once the scratches get deeper than the superficial layer of the finish, the more you polish, the thinner the finish becomes. This allows future scratches to become "permanent". Since it is from HomeDepot, there is a chance they may discount a replacement or replace it for free -even though it is over a year old & the care instructions may warn about abrasive cleaners.

Just a note here that this phenom does happen just like toilet tanks just crackin while you are sitting in the living room watching TV. There is no explanation for it.

While I personally would not expect any manufacturer of anything to pony up 2 years after their warrenty expired, to each his own. I do however believe it would be good public relations if they gave you a replacement.

I understand your anger and frustration but I ask to to remember that getting a Ford Mustang that is a total lemon from the factory does not equate to all Ford Mustangs being lemons or that everything Ford makes is a lemon.

Godd luck and I hope they come through for you.

How to maintain cleaning and scratch free black sink,my sink has spots and scratches on it. how to avoid these problem

Using soft scrub or some brand similar is the best thing to use. Manufacturers reccomend only soap and water, but soft scrub is best. Be sure to never use abrasives on any fixture, it will scratch and void warranty
Kohler makes a cleaning agent for cast iron sinks, if this is what you have.

hope this helps

Stainless Steel Sink Question

s with most things, your stainless steel sink WILL scratch with use. However, over time as the sink ages, scratches will become less apparent and in fact blend into the surface. Minor scratches on the inside surfaces of the bowl may be blended into the sink by lightly rubbing a Scotchbrite pad in the direction of the finish grain. Be sure to rinse thoroughly with water and towel dry after this procedure, removing any particles left over from the Scotchbrite as you rinse.

SCRATCHED STAINLESS STEEL SINK

Have you tried a really fine steel wool? I don't know if this would work. I have stainless steel farmhouse sink, front exposed all stainless steel. My contractor scratched it up horribly when he was putting it into the kichen. he fixed it amazingly with a fine steel wool pad. I don't know if your scratch is too deep for that but it couldn't hurt. The scratches on our sink were surface but very noticeable. Hope this helps.
