You may have a blown fuse inside the unit next to where the power supply/converter is located. You will have to remove the top cover to access the fuse. If the fuse is in good condition, use a voltmeter to check the power coming out of the supply to the main board. If no power is present, then the supply/inverter is bad. If you do have power to the main board, then there is a component on the main board that is likely bad such as capacitor(s) or resistor(s) than can be tested with an analog meter
Hi,
does it mean there is no sign of power on the unit? From your explanations, it seems as if your player as developed a power problems since you said it does not display anything at all.
Once a player or any electronics device does not power on, then it means its having a power problem. This has nothing to do with the DVD slotted into the CD part, I think its a coincidence.
If you know about electronic repairs, open the player, use a meter to read the power board because one or two components on the board maybe have been faulty which is causing the board to be defective.
But if you don't know about electronics repairs, then I would advice that you take it to the nearest repairman to fix the problem for you.
Good luck.

That is correct...it appears to be a power issue. I don't have experience with "power boards"...but I do have a meter and am willing to give it a shot, if given adequate instruction.
Thanks,
Dustin
I'd like to attempt to fix it myself. Could it be a bad power transformer?
Thanks. OK...I've removed the cover and see the power converter, but don't see anything that looks like a typical fuse (glass tube)...just resistors, capacitors, etc. What would the fuse in question would look like?
