Hotpoint Fridge Freezer makes a lough cracking / popping nose

think the door was left cracked open all day while we were at work, so it had to work to keep cold all day- and now it's making this horrible noise and not really cold as it should be. the noise is coming from the back, there are a few things that could be causing the problem. If the unit seems louder when the compressor starts, it's probably a normal sound. The compressor starts with a high pressure, but as the pressure balances, the noise should become normalized. The compressor is in a black case with no visible moving parts. It's located at the back of the refrigerator near the bottom and has wires and a bunch of tubes going to it. If it's humming, or making a steady noise, and your refrigerator is still not cooling properly, there could be a problem with one or more various components. If the compressor is making noise, there's probably no repairing it. You'll have to replace it. This is often a very costly job and needs to be done by someone with the necessary EPA certification to work on sealed systems.

Refrigerator is warm and will not cool food and the freezer is iced up

Theres the problem an iced up freezer, the cold for the food compartment comes via a fan in the freezer, no flow, no cold, firstly defrost it completely, check fans are working, if they are ok then it's probably your defrost hester element.

Fridge side cold freezer not. compressor seems to be short cycleing

if theres a clicking noise behind the unit, then the ptc overload relay is weak and dropping in and out which will short cycle the compressor, also a compressor thats going bad will draw excessive current and make the ptc drop in and out check start and run currents to determine this, also, but rare it could be the cold temp control

Frigidaire FRS23H5AS refrigerator - freezer not cold

Humming noise would be your compressor going bad. The noise from the fan is because they are over working to try and keep everything cool

Ge profile buttom freezer cold refrigerator hot

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

Now, why is that cold air not getting over to the Ref side?
1. The little door is not open.
check your control setting. You should be able to feel air coming through the channel on the Ref side.

2. The fan in the freezer is not working.
You can hear this fan running when you open the freezer.

3. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice which won't let the fan circulate the air over to the Ref side.
This is a failure of the defrost system.

is the noise like a hum? touch the compressor if it is really hot, suspect relay/overload combination defective touch the little line that comes out of compressor if cold, suspect the above. if you change the relay/overload combination, and works fine there's your problem. hope to se of some help.
