Question about Envision EN-985e Monitor

1 Answer

Power supply I just bought a new power supply and installed it. The computer turns on just fine, but the monitor doesn't register anything. I checked the connections to the tower and they are fine. The monitor is plugged in and everything. Don't know what's wrong.

My desktop computer will display anything when turned on, and the fan and hardrive both make a loud constant noise.

Maybe you need a larger power supply depending on if you might have added more hardware such as a graphics card, or an extra monitor to your system. This sometimes results in an inefficient supply of power, making your fan to your power supply work harder, thus making noise.

This is a known symptom of a failure in the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide that shows how to dis-assemble and the unit and then what to look for and replace on the power supply board to bring the unit back to working condition.

No power at all

If your monitor doesn't turn on, and you are sure of the power supply (some plug directly into the wall and some use a power adapter), then you can assume that the monitor has failed.
You can fix it (replace the power supply in the monitor itself or possibly the on/off switch), have it fixed by someone who knows how to do this, or buy a new monitor.
First, of course, be sure the problem is your monitor and not the computer. If the monitor light turns green and then yellow, you can assume it's the computer. If the monitor light doesn't go on at all, it's the monitor.

The monitor is not registering that it's hooked up to a computer. It turns on, but the power light just blinks like it's in sleep mode or not connected to anything. I tried hooking it up to two different...

When its hook up to the computer, turn on both monitor and computer.

While the monitor is turn on, disconnect the vga cable. Will this display a No Signal error?

If yes, then a problem with the mainboard of the monitor, buy a new monitor.
If no, problem with the power supply section of the monitor. Replace the leaking and blown capacitors with same value.

If it was working fine why install additional software? Try booting into safe mode and uninstalling the software or drivers.
