Connecting to Wireless Networks Using Windows 7's WLAN Autoconfig

Follow the steps to connect to your wireless network using Windows 7's Autoconfig.

Step 1:
Click on this icon kb20600-001_en.png at the bottom-right of the screen and you will see a list of available wireless networks.
Step 2:
Select your wireless network's name or SSID then click Connect.
NOTE: If the wireless network's name or SSID is not listed, the SSID broadcast on the router is disabled. To connect to the wireless network with SSID broadcast disabled, click here.
If the computer does not connect, it is probably because the computer cannot detect any signal or cannot see any wireless network. In this case, you should change the channel of the router. For instructions, click here.

In order for the wireless computer to connect to the router wirelessly, the router and the computer's wireless settings should be the same. Before trying to connect your wireless adapter to a Linksys wireless router, please know the following: SSID or Network Name, Wireless Security and/or Network Key.

My husband bought a dlink router (it says dgl-4500 on it) and i cant figure out how to use it to get wireless internet for my new laptop....i have three "codes" he wrote down- a "router pass", a "network...

Router password is the password to access the router settings.
SSID is the network name. When you try to connect to the wireless network on your laptop, you will see this network name.
If your network is secured network then it will ask you for the network key or the password. You need to enter the ' security key '.

Hi,

On Windows XP :
Click on start >> go to control panel >> double click on network connections >> right click on wireless network connection and click on properties >> click on wireless networks >> check the box that says ”use windows to configure my wireless network settings” and click OK >> right click on wireless network connection again and click on view available wireless networks. If you see your network name then click on it and click connect >> enter password if configured and click OK.
Note : If you don’t see wireless network tab under wireless network connection properties then follow below steps.
Click on start >> click on run >> type services.msc and click OK >> scroll the right side window down to wireless zero configuration >> double click on it >> start up type should be set to automatic and service status should be started (In case if it is different then change the settings) Then follow the above mentioned steps to look for wireless network tab and follow further.
On Windows Vista :

Trying to add a laptop to my home wireless router and it will not recognize it

Please follow the mentioned step to check if the Wireless card is installed properly
Step 1 :
> click on start (assuming it to be a windows OS)
> right click on "my computer" and select "Properties"
> you will have the system Properties window pop-up
> under the Hardware tab, click on Device manager button
> under the device manager list look for network adapters
> you should now be able to see your wireless card under network adapter - check if the
adapter is enabled ( if not kindly enable by right clicking on the adapter)
> once the adapter is active - it will have a green icon with not error on it.
Once you complete the above task you may follow the below mentioned step.
Following the below mentioned step will help the Microsoft to take control over the card
and try to connect (instead of the software provided by the card manufacturer to control
the device)

Once confirmed that the adapter is installed properly - Now try to search for networks

This should solve your problem..
