I can suggest you to verify the unit is on BD mode. To do so, you have
to press the USB/SD button on remote. If you already tried to load the firmware
update and still that did not work; it seems like there is a problem with the
actual laser lens.
This product has a year warranty, try taking it back to the store or contact Memorex at 1-877-363-6673 and ask how to get the unit replaced.
