Question about Fedders Heating & Cooling

Blower runs slowly if at all. Give it a spin or two by hand and it will slowly build up to full speed, RUN AND COOL AS NORMAL. But it only runs for a short time (12 to 15 minutes) then the blower slows down gradually then stops.

Sounds about right. Now how do I get to the motor/bearings? I already have the front plastic grill off exposing the foam filter and the cooling fins and tubing behind it. There are many screws in view and I don't want remove the wrong ones.

I just need to know how to get at the bearing, bushing, or sleeve to lube it to get me through the end of the summer season. I'll replace the entire unit when they go on sale in the fall (and probably for less than replacing or repairing the motor).

The fan bearings have become gummed up and will need to be replaced or cleaned. I am assuming yours is not a split type. If so you will need to remove the whole unit from its casing. Have a look at this link :
It is an installation manual and shows what to do to install/remove the unit.

The problem will be either the capacitor for the motor or the motor itself. You can check the capacitor with a multimeter with the capacitor check function or take it to a heating and air supply and they can check it for you. If it looks swollen then it is bad. Does the fan spin freely by hand when the power is off. If not then it probably needs to be replaced. You can check the motor windings with an ohmmeter. I have dealt with a few where everthing seemed to check out but the motor was bad. Some problems won't show up until the motor gets hot.

Most of the motors in window units don't have bearings but use a bushing or sleeve. Lubing might help for a little while but your best bet is to replace the motor.

There may be hole to put a few drops of oil in on the ends of the motor near the shaft. If not, then there is no way to lube it unless you disassemble the motor.

It seems to be a problem with blower motor. The bearings are seizing up when the motor is difficult to turn with power to it.
Generally, if the capacitor is bad, it won't turn at all or will quickly overheat and go out on internal overload.

If the motor feels "tight" when trying to spin it, the bearings are seizing and the motor will have to be replaced.

If there are oil ports, you might be able to spray some lubricant inside such as WD-40, but this does not always work and, if it does, it is only for a short time, but it might get you by if you need the A/C and cannot get it repaired immediately.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Whirlpool microwave fan not working

I would unplug the oven for 2 minutes to do a hard reset and try it again, just in cause there was a glitch.

Without knowing your full model number from the tag on the oven, I would wonder if it has a separate internal cooling fan from the hood vent exhaust fan. It could be an unrelated issue.

For more free DIY and other help & advice, feel free to contact me with your full model number and FCC ID number from the tag on your oven.

Our new colman mam 3 airconditioner vibrates loudly on hi cool could you tell us what could cause this please kind regards Dennis

I'd remove cover on roof and observe (carefully, with breaker shut off inside) blades on condenser fan as well as blower while spinning slowly first, and look for possible bent blade on rear fan blades, or even a mudwasp nest on either. If it happened immediately after installation, perhaps the small weights on blower wheel have come off, or shifted. At worse you may have a faulty or loose mount or bad bearing in fan. If it's been running good for a while, probably a nest has been added. Careful when taking cover off, for wasps, or yellow jackets under cover. If not obvious when spinning slowly by hand, stand back and have someone turn it on to see if you can determine where trouble is when running on high.

I have an Ariens 926LE snowblower. The blower spins but the auger spins slowly. It barely throws snow. Some times the auger stops spinning. Shear pins are fine.

Hi, The blower spins at full speed? If it does the belt, pulley, and shaft are good. Look at the shaft from the fan to the gear box while it's running and that shaft should be turning at the speed of the fan.
If the blower spins at full speed and the auger doesn't the most likely problem is the worm gear transmission from the blower shaft to the auger shaft.
A good way to visually inspect this is: With the machine turned off and the spark plug wire unhooked go to the front and try to rotate the auger by hand. If the gear box is good you will only be able to move the auger less than an inch. If the box is bad you will be able to move the auger a lot farther. While you are there recheck your shear pins.
You can also remove the blower drive belt and have someone turn the pulley by hand while you watch the auger. Put resistance on the auger with your gloved hand. If the box is good the auger will move smoothly in you hand. If it is bad, it will ****, move roughly, or stop.
While the other person is turning the pulley and you have some resistance on the auger look closely at the shaft running from the gearbox back to the blower. On some models there is a connecting sleeve and the roll pin that connects the sleeve to the shaft and gearbox will break.
If the gearbox is bad, it will have to be replaced as a complete unit.

Wont run at full throtle, bogs like a sick cat. I have went through the carb with a kit and cleaned it put a new coil on it and new spark plug. The carb womt adjust out for high speed.

SORRY but you didnt clean that carb good enough,if it will not adjust. Also remove the muffler and check for carbon build up in the exhaust port.Check also the spark arrestor screen, they plug up. If that engine cannot breath it will not come too full speed.
Hope that gives ya somewhere to start looking

Blower running on high only

most of the time these have a fan speed resistor in the cooling fan box under the dash there in there to keep them cool due to a lot of heat going through them when there on 1,2,3 and sometimes thay give up. the reason it runs on 4 is that its the highest setting and is getting the full 12 volts and does not run through the resistor. a replacment resistor should get all your speeds back
